Thanks for your post....been seeing this charade for years...it’s unbelievable what has happened and you will still have people defend it to the death...because i’m sure it doesn’t effect them or they are making money from it.

This is never a topic of discussion on news programs...unless i have missed it...until this issue is addressed..well, everything doesn’t really matter.

You could try MSNBC, or maybe the Huffington post. They talk about making the "rich" pay their "fair share" on a regular basis. Of course, most people are smart enough to understand that, when MSNBC talks about the "rich," it is talking about you.

Here's Robert Rector's work showing the almost one trillion annually now being paid out to the poor and low wage earners. HTML file. On page three is a good table to review.

How Much is Enough?

And, yes, I'm saying this enormous federal payout is very much related to our trade policies that have moved millions of jobs out of the US to cheap labor nations over the past fifty years. And those jobs are only partially being replaced.

The best evidence of how American governing classes have not looked after America's economic interests. America still is the biggest market for American and foreign companies. China will be, America is. What would it have taken to slap legislative limitations on the export of American jobs, after lowering the corporate tax rate? Too late now, 'course, but it could've been done.

Did you get that from the Obama campaign?

Don't you dare mention the corporate tax rate! Someone will try to explain to you that it is an insignificant cost of doing business, and that companies (i.e., you) should pay taxes out of patriotism.

Remember the steel fiasco? The dumpers can just appeal as Bush did with the steel industry. Of course this isn’t as big as the steel industry which is heavily protected.

It’s part of the big pitcher, corporate tax is, isn’t it! Domestic corporate taxes + U.S. taxes on foreign earnings + escalating health insurance costs = outsourcing of U.S. jobs + investments overseas.

First, the U.S. International Trade Commission (USITC) determines whether the domestic industry has been injured. Second, the Commerce Department assesses the extent of the exporting country’s violation—the dumping margin or the size of the subsidy. In the end, tariffs may be applied.

How long do you suppose that takes? - My guess - just long enough to be ineffectual.

It depends. But with respect to the Obama Administration, Exxel isn’t even on the radar screen.

Lol, I and many others were aware of this trend of Americans moving from reasonably good paying jobs to lower paying jobs and help from government support programs long before anyone outside his immediate circle ever heard of Barack Obama.

Yes, I am aware of the protectionist myth that real wages are constantly falling. It’s like their belief that the Earth is flat.

That entire post is nothing but predictable boilerplate and pretend-free trader nonsense that’s about as relevant as the output of Jesse Jackson and Al Sharpton.

This is not a thread about the U.S. government spending too much money. It is a thread about trade.
LOL! are you really that dense?...I guess so. You can only pretend to be wise for so long.

BTW, are all of the people who are opposed to foreign oil dependence "protectionists" in your limited view?
