Lady, lady, lady! How could you be so close minded? Diversity demands that non Christian songs/chants/incantations be recited at Christmas time. (I should say "Winter break" I'll bet the farm that UVA never mentioned "Christmas" when advertising the concert)You are the actual bigot for even complaining. (Thus sayth Alice once she was inside the looking glass and the whole world looked inverted)

Note the caustic, superior, condescending remarks by the smart alleck (likely college age or professors) in the comments section below the article. So typical of a modern major university these days.

Please accept with no obligation, implied or explicit, my best wishes for an environmentally conscious, socially responsible, low-stress, non-addictive, gender-neutral celebration of the winter solstice holiday, practiced within the most enjoyable traditions of the religious persuasion of your choice, or secular practices of your choice, with respect for the religious/secular persuasion and/or traditions of others, or their choice not to practice religious or secular traditions at all. I also wish you a fiscally successful, personally fulfilling and medically uncomplicated recognition of the onset of the generally accepted calendar year 2011 but not without due respect for the calendars of choice of other cultures whose contributions to society have helped make America great. Not to imply that America is necessarily greater than any other country nor the only America in the Western Hemisphere . Also, this wish is made without regard to the race, creed, color, age, physical ability, religious faith or sexual preference of the wishee.

Is this not what we have come down to? rhet./

I was just wondering about the response from the people in the crowd. Were they all stunned? I think I would have just stood there with my mouth hanging open until I was able to grab my purse and walk out.

God frowns on sharing worship with pagan gods, especially his old enemy Ba’al.al’lah. I would not participate in any prayer or worship that includes pagan gods. Gentile Christians were instructed not to eat of the meat offered to idols. In the minds of those watching, Jesus is made equal to pagan gods.

It’s really incredible. Muslim terrorists attacked us on 9-11 and ever since then idiots in this country are tripping over themselves to be “sensitive” to them. How backwards is that?

The song was appropriate only in the sense that Allah seems to me to have been the central actor at a critical point in Jesus Christ's life (this is a paraphrase, but I am becoming increasingly confident that it retains the exact meaning of the original):

Then Jesus was led by the Spirit into the wilderness to be tempted by Allah. After fasting forty days and forty nights, He was hungry. The tempter came to Him and said, “If you are the Son of God, tell these stones to become bread.” Jesus answered, “It is written: ‘Man shall not live on bread alone, but on every word that comes from the mouth of God.’”

Then Allah took him to the holy city and had Him stand on the highest point of the temple. “If you are the Son of God,” he said, “throw yourself down. For it is written: “‘He will command his angels concerning you, and they will lift you up in their hands, so that you will not strike your foot against a stone.’” Jesus answered him, “It is also written: ‘Do not put the Lord your God to the test.’”

Again, Allah took Him to a very high mountain and showed Him all the kingdoms of the world and their splendor. “All this I will give you,” he said, “if you will bow down and worship me.” Jesus said to him, “Away from me, Satan! For it is written: ‘Worship the Lord your God, and serve him only.’” Then Allah left Him, and angels came and attended Him.
