Simple. We don't trust him.
And we have good reason not to trust him. His political history defines him as an opportunist who will turn on a dime and attack conservatives if there is a political advantage to be had for McCain.
In the meantime, I'm happy to have his support. But I dare not count on it.

Trust, but verify. It worked well for Reagan, and I believe it’s the proper approach toward RINOs.
I’m not talking about blind loyalty. We might find a better conservative to replace Senator McCain six years from now. What I mean is, we should applaud ANY senator, even Democrats, who vote to uphold constitutional and moral governance.
Agreed. And I think it is stupid to bash him no matter what he does. He will do plenty over the next six years that is worthy of scorn, bashing him even when he does the right thing just makes the bashers look petty.
