Gulf Disaster = Offshore Drilling Moratorium.

Drilling Moratorium = Idled Offshore Drill Rigs.

Idled Offshore Drill Rigs = move idled rigs to Brazil.

Soros gets to hire idled rigs at a better price.

Obama gives umpteen megabucks to Brazil = that cash goes to Soros.

Brazil sells their offshore oil to USA.

USA offshore oil insufficient to support demand.

Brazilian offshore oil price rises = Happy Soros & Obama.

No time for hurrahs; this will be anyones first exp. with a major spill for which dilutants/dispersants caused a majority of it to settle on the ocean floor. You’ve got 2-3 years to assess this, before you can jump for joy. But it is rather appealing to know that, at present, all seems okay.

People believe the oil spill was catastrophic for the same reason they believe Katrina hit New Orleans. I live in Gulfport,MS so I know the truth.

My reaction is- where will the billions of dollars in “aid” wind up? I suspect much of it will take a clever path into Obama’s re-election war chest.

My reaction is -- THAT'S A REALLY GOOD POINT. That money went somewhere.

It’s hard to resist pop hysteria when it comes at us 24/7.

Makes me want to read Michael Crichton's "State of Fear" again. He died too young -- he was one very smart guy and a great writer. He nailed it with the title of that book. We have people trying to scare us to death coming at us from all directions in today's culture. Yikes.

Well, his latest ban in the Eastern Gulf is pretty much all show. A very large majority, probably 90%, of offshore drilling is in the Central and Western Gulf. Most of the land in the Eastern Gulf hasnt even been sold. He basically banned an activity that wasnt happening.

A very large majority, 100%.

The eastern gulf ban is a continuation of the existing ban. We don't have any producing platforms in the eastern gulf. It was to be lifted this year and leases would be sold.

Oil is a natural product and the earth can handle a spill long term IMO, but I wouldn’t doubt there is a lot of dead area on the floor where a lot of this spill went.

I would think there was a lot of ocean life killed right there, but I would hope it would replenish.

Why?

Because journalists no longer hold to the sacred ethics which guided their (my) profession for many years. Objective truth and meticulous fairness. Let the reader decide.

"No time for hurrahs; this will be anyones first exp. with a major spill for which dilutants/dispersants caused a majority of it to settle on the ocean floor."

Incorrect. Dispersants don't cause anything to "settle to the ocean floor". All dispersants do is the cause the oil to break up into myriads of microscopic droplets. Use of dispersants changes the DENSITY of the oil not at all.

But the HUGE multiplication of active surface area due to the formation of the smaller droplets causes a similar HUGE increase in the ability of bacteria to "eat" the oil.

Does that mean it is all right? What about the EPA and BLM taking so much western lands for the government? I think we need solar and wind energy, but that is a slow process that will take decades. I’d like to believe Obama cares about the U.S. But from what I have studied about him and those Marxists with whom he surrounds himself, including Rev. Wright, I have concluded Obama is a fraud operating under world government leaders prepared since Occidental days to make America surrender its sovereignty to world government no matter what it takes or how many are hurt or killed. Obama and his mother’s family worked for USAID and as CIA informants, as did Obama. David Rockefeller and Zig Brzezinski were his CIA/CFR/TLC mentors. Obama should have been impeached as a senator from Illinois when he went to Kenya to help his cousin, Odinga, run for president. Thank God many people awoke enough to regain the House. The Senate was lost to voter fraud.

I think we need solar and wind energy, but that is a slow process that will take decades.

If we need those things, why do they have to be both subsidized and mandated?

And, should we eventually reach a point where the generating capacity of solar and wind energy is sufficient to fill our entire needs, you do realize that we'll have to have an equal amount of generating capacity powered by nuclear, coal or natural gas on standby?

Coal. For when the sun don't shine and the wind don't blow.

The oil spill switched off the warm gulf stream current.

There's been a cooling trend since 2000. How did an oil spill in 2010 affect that trend?

Oh, and where did you hear that the oil spill "switched off" the Gulf Stream? Any sources on that?

Every household needs to become as independent as possible. We cannot depend on the power grid nor public water supply nor large grocers. The EPA is regulating these out of our ability to pay, including harvesting water. Woodburning stoves will be outlawed or taxed exorbitantly as will coal and fuel oil. Solar and wind energy are not economical, but Obama isn’t interested in our welfare, anyway. Those on oxygen machines will need their own power, etc.
