The "day job" of the dealer I was working with is "research librarian". I doubt that he would be mistaken about what the rules were. And more than "just me" on this thread recalls such notification as being required.

What do you base your opinion on?? Are you a dealer??

I was a dealer for a dozen years. I had to fill out multiple handgun purchase forms a few times. There was no multiple long gun or long gun and handgun form. I read the law and discussed it with federal officers who are personal friends. I have been studying GCA 68 and its implications for many years.

It is possible that in the state that you were in, the state law required notification of multiple firearm purchases. Some states have peculiar laws that are stricter than federal law.
