SEOUL (AFP) North Korea warned that another war with South Korea would involve nuclear weapons, as diplomatic efforts continued to ease high tensions over its deadly artillery attack and atomic ambitions.
Uriminzokkiri, the official website of the communist state, said in a commentary seen Friday that war on the Korean Peninsula is only a matter of time.

Let China deal with that.

Uriminzokkiri, the official website of the communist state, said in a commentary seen Friday that war on the Korean Peninsula is only a matter of time.IF: War on the Korean Peninsula is inevitable, AND: War on the Korean Peninsula will involve nuclear weapons.....
THEN: There is no point to restrain, and a preemptive nuclear strike is warranted.
Wish I was President.

Thanks for the ping. The North plays the same game and we fall for it. I hate to think what Richardson is promising them.

Bluff.
Bold faced, frothing dog yapping DPRK bluff.
Do it anyway. And announce, since DPRK have been such assholes in ratcheting up the threats over the last few days, they, the Republic of Korea, will practice double fold on Yeongpyongdo.
That's what I would do.
Watch Chia and Fat Boy just cave and run off for more "on the spot" inspections of corn fields and sporting facilities under construction.
There is a time when you just have to say, damn the engines, full speed ahead, either take whatever lumps they are right now, or wait another 10 years and have to face an evil enemy three times as powerful.
In fact, the face off should have come 30 years ago, were it not for this constant appeasement of DPRK on the installment plan, which has embolodened them so far, and makes us have to continuously put up with this nonsense.

"Prominent US politician Bill Richardson is paying a private visit to Pyongyang to try to ease tensions."
Prominent? PROMINENT! What a joke, Richardson is a political neophyte and has the political gravitas and acumen of a herring. Kimmy and little Kimmy-me will wipe the floor with him. Richardson will need a bevy of servants at his disposal just to change his undies every few minutes after he soils them out of fear.

Bill Richardson has gone this route in the past only to be used as a propaganda tool for the norks.
Bill Richardson is a Clinton flunky.

Of course there are tactical military and other infrastructure targets at the top of the list, but psy war targets will be just as effective or important in the opening wave of facing down the DPRK and bringing this 60-year-old criminal, tyrannical, and outright TERRORIST (Rangoon/Andaman Sea/Kimpo Airport bombings, Cheonan sinking, Yeonpyongdo attack, Japanese seaside kidnappings, concentration camps) regime to its knees. In fact, in launching its actions, the US should specifically state that it is COMMENCING WAR OPERATIONS SUSPENDED IN 1953 AT THE ARMISTACE and that this is merely a continuation of the Korean War, armistace broken. Then we finish the job, once and for all, and rename Pyongyang as
더글러스 맥아더장군시 "Douglas Macarthur City" . F-22 Raptors, or US cruise missiles should consider these initially in the first part of shock and awe in Pyongyang:
The USS Pueblo on the Taedong River (as you have posted.)
The Mausoleum holding the remains of General Kim Il Sung
The Mangyondae area showing the birthplace of General Kim Il Sung (purported)
Kim il Sung University and Kimchaek University of Technology.
The Arch of Triumph (Arch of Victory), and the Great People's House.
Mansudae Hill with the huge Kim Il Sung statue. (This, once cleaned up, can house the current Douglas MacArthur statue which is in Inchon City in South Korea, and can be relocated to Pyongyang).
Chollima statue/hill.
The Norkies' ears will already be aching (if eardrums still intact) from giant EMP bursts, but this will and insult to injury. And they damned well have it coming. I say, hit the high value targets and of course get ready for one helluva wave of refugees into China because that will necessarily be the byproduct. We save the very best GBU/BLU113 or 118 Thermobaric Warheads or RNEP type weaponry available, Chia Dong and Junior deep down below. They can run, but they cannot hide.
