I had hair , then, too!...............
If the House does not pass the exact same bill as the Senate, it must either reconcile in conference OR the Senate could just accept the House change and vote on that (TO SAVE TIME).
Everything is about the calendar now. The GOP should force this back to the Senate. There is no time for a reconciling conference so Reid would have to try to pass the same bill the House votes through. The GOP in the Senate would filibuster that because they have said NO CHANGES, and until this bill passes and becomes law, even the moderates have committed to filibuster ANY OTHER LEGISLATION.
The GOP in the House MUST find a way to get this bill changed and sent back to the Senate. That is the only way to stop DADT and DREAM act. They can achieve that by voting with the faction among the Dems who demand the bill be changed.
**** Today Harry Reid pledged to hold the Senate in session through January 4th ****
Do you know what the absolute deadline is for this congress to end?
Absolutely! Make it better. And then DRIVE IT DOWN THEIR THROATS!!!!! Reduce the estate tax to ZERO and make the Bush Tax cuts permanent. Let the RATS scream bloody murder.
I don't like earmarks either, but this is a shell game, and focusing on earmarks is picking the wrong shell. The real issue is that it's a FULL one year budget at the grossly expanded 2010 levels. Obama took a big bite out of the economy for government over the past two years, and this resolution keeps it at that expanded level, which is maybe $200 Billion above where it ought to be.
We'd be better off with a one month budget continuation, a tax rate compromise, and a new budget in the next session at more reasonable levels.
I think we’d be better off calling the whole thing off and then making the first item of business the passing of an extension of the Bush tax rates, sans TARP II.
>>Petty Please let the Tax cuts expire.<<
I hate to admit it, but I kinda feel the same way. I think there may be some “unintended consequences”.
How utterly disgusting. And so close to Christmas, too. The siren on Drudge has been replaced by a awful closeup pic of Ms. Plastic Face. UGH!!
Please Drudge, have some respect for the holiday season.
The Constitution says noon Jan 3, is when their terms end.
EX-TERM-EE-NATE!!!
Your correct, my mistake. Guess I wasn't paying as close attention as I thought. Doesn't matter now though, the Omnibus is dead. Long Live the Tax Cuts.
