How would General Mac Arthur handle the problem? I think we know and had he not been fired by Truman the whole problem may not exist at this time. As a side note, my dad was under his command and escaped to Australia with the navy after the Japanese took the Philippines. He never forgave Mac Aurthur for taking his furniture to Australia rather than taking Philippine fighters in his C-47 (or C-54)to escaoe the Japanese military my dads experince kind of soured my feelings for Gen’l Mac Arthur....
