The more things change, the more they stay the same.
Kristie Noem was a tea party candidate, backed by Sarah Palin, who ousted liberal Stephanie Herseth-Sandlin from South Dakotas lone House seat while running on a fiscally conservative platform. Except, Noem thinks government subsidies for ethanol are just lovely and stimulate the economy:
Newly Elected Congresswoman Kristi Noem of South Dakota says that ethanol subsidies are important to her state and the nation. Speaking on the Scott Hennen Show Noem says Ethanol has been very good to South Dakota. She said that this is not the time to repeal the subsidy when you look at taking away that subsidy it is the wrong decision.
She says that supporting the ethanol industry with subsidy promotes investment and continued hiring In the long run it will get the economy back on track faster.
How are ethanol subsidies any different than Obamas economic stimulus spending? The fiscal conservative argument against the stimulus spending spree was that government cannot create jobs because government cannot spend anything without taking away from someone else.
Given that, if Obamas stimulus spending hasnt resulted in job growth (and we know it hasnt) then how is spending on ethanol subsidies any different?
Makes you want to pull out your hair!
“Obama, Noem Both Urge Passage Of Tax Cut Deal:
President Barack Obama used his weekly address Saturday to advocate again for swift passage of his deal with Republicans to extend Bush-era tax cuts, and incoming Rep. Kristi Noem (S.D.) began her House career by agreeing with the president in the GOP response.”

If the subsidies aren’t actually stimulating the economy, we can be assured they are stimulating some of her suporters and financial contributors.
Having the Tea Party blessing doesn't mean you support the Tea Party principles.
There has to be something in the water there in D.C. As soon as they drink it they go Communist!
Well, that was fast.
Well, that was fast.
Well, that was fast.
like Senator pothole (al damato) she is out to feather her constituents nests(I assume they grow corn there).
hopefully on things like guns, abortion and amnesty she can hold the conservative line....
Some people just will never get it. They get elected and all of a sudden they are transformed into liberals. Why doesn’t it happen the other way around? You know, elect a liberal and he/she gets transformed into a conservative.
If McConnell and Boehner don’t get their act together- by this weekend- I have really, really bad feelings about what’s going to happen.
Never forget this corrupt “Two-Party Cartel” that are owned by the elites. The only avenue for the hard working taxpayers is an all out revolution. Guaranteed nothing will change until we change it & as you see, the ballot box ain’t the answer.
Yeah, this Porky Pig bill is giving making me retch the more I hear about it.
But have you heard of any congress critter from a Plains state who is against ethanol subsidies?
I love farming and farmers but I know several from SD who get fat off ag subsidies and swear by them. Very conservative people except where that is concerned.
Oh wow.
Seriously?
THIS fast?
Talk about disheartening..
“Creating” jobs in the “green economy” destroys more jobs in the real economy. The only debate is over how many jobs are destroyed, for every “green job” created. Somewhere between 2 and 5, seems to be the answer; according to recent studies. For instance:

“as she is not sworn in yet, also being from a farming state I would expect her to be for the ethanol subsidies, not saying it right, but I take it for what it is”
Yeah, but how can she reconcile the obvious contradictions with this stance?
You can’t blame her, being from SD and all. Sen Thune also supports it. Besides, she’s one vote in the House, it’s not like it’s really up to her. If the majority of the GOP is against it, who really cares what her position is? It’s not the decision rests soley in her hands. There’s 241 other House republicans besides her, not to mention the 25 or so blue dogs who remain.
Also, it’s a bit inaccurate to say she was backed by Gov Palin. Initially there were a lot of comparisons, mostly physical, both of of them being attractive brunettes and all, but Noem really avoided them and wanted to be her own man, so to speak. I do believe Gov Palin’s PAC did make a donation to her, but it wasn’t highly publicized or anything and Noem wasn’t mentioned in any of the mama grizzly type things. She didn’t endorse her in a primary or really make a big deal out of it like she did with some other folks. So Palin did support her, but much less than many others(largely because I think that’s how Noem wanted it, but still).
And on the tax deal, of course she supports it. The leadership neotiated it and she’ll be in the leadership come Jan.
