The Senate blocked President Obama's and Democratic leaders' tax cut plans Saturday in a foreordained symbolic vote that now sends both sides back to the negotiating table to work out a viable deal.
A bipartisan filibuster, led by unified Republicans and joined by four Democrats and one independent, proved there isn't enough support to back Mr. Obama's preferred option to extend income tax cuts for couples making less than $250,000 and tax increases for those making more than that.
With that vote out of the way, attention turns back to the high-level working group Mr. Obama and congressional leaders set up this week to try to work out a solution. That group met three times already, but Sen. Jon Kyl, Arizona Republican and one of the negotiators, said it was clear to him that Democrats weren't going to negotiate until they had gone through the votes to prove to their political base that raising taxes on the wealthy wasn't viable

Stay the course and DO NOT TRADE A VOTE FOR a repeal of DADT for the taxes.
Hussein LOST big time last month, and that needs to be crammed down HIS throat on every issue. Americans don’t want his Marxism.
Republicans voted unanimously against the House-passed bill, and they were joined by four Democrats Senators Russ Feingold of Wisconsin, Joe Manchin III of West Virginia, Ben Nelson of Nebraska and Jim Webb of Virginia as well as by Senator Joseph I. Lieberman, independent of Connecticut.

Don’t trade for DADT . . .
BUT PARTICULARLY DO NOT LET THEM LUMP IN A DEBT CEILING INCREASE!!!
Any RAT or RINO who has the slightest thought of getting re-elected in 2012, better start listening to We The People and remembering the November 2 tsunami. We’re watching every vote and listening to every word!!!
Every Freeper, who is involved with a Tea Party group anywhere in the country, must make this a reality. Watch every vote and report the names and their votes.
What’s with Feingold? He’s a socialist.
Did his party fail to give him satisfactory support in his campaign?
see this you tube “We The People”

It’s a promising start. We would be so much better off if the Lame Duck Congress were to simply go home and stay there until January.
Who grew a set? No seriously, as a woman I have to know who grew a set.
You’re right: stay the course. And we should acknowledge those who vote the right way, no matter the letter behind their name. I care less about the designation than I do the commitment to do the right thing.
Feingold is going to run for Kohl’s seat in 2012. He is trying to get back into the Senate in 2012.
The viable deal is to make the Bush Tax Cuts permanent and further increase them on the high earners.
Obama said he wanted bipartisanship, so 4 Rats voting with Republicans is good.
.
.
More likely, Feingold is among the exceedingly endangered species, the "honest liberals".
For years, he voted liberal...and his constituents let him get away with it.
Now, having the writing on the wall read to him, he is voting as his constituents have instructed him.
It's to his credit as a man.
Ramirez is the man!

RIGHT ON!
OK Lurking GOP elites - take note...
There is only 1 principled position on this issue; it is -
The sunset provisions of the Bush era tax cuts should be repealed immediately, and permanently. No deals, no horse trading, no more “chicken crap.”
The reason: It’s the best thing for America - both public and private sector. Secondarily, we need to have a permanent tax structure - not another temporary extension that will make this issue re-appear at a date certain in the future - when Dems will demand yet more “horse trading” to extend them again.
If the Dems don’t go for it - let the rates go up for everyone - with the promise that they’ll go down again - as soon as Republicans regain control. But in the mean time we at least know the rules with certainty.
He wants to primary Obama.
