A.J. Wagner to retire from bench

Montgomery County Common Pleas Judge A.J. Wagner announced his retirement Tuesday in an email sent to court employees just before 10 a.m.

Wagner, a Democrat, will retire at the end of the year, allowing outgoing-Gov. Ted Strickland to appoint his successor.

Wagner is in trial this week and was not available for comment Tuesday morning.

Wagner’s retirement means there will be at least two new judges on the division in 2011, though the other one will be appointed by Gov.-elect John Kasich. That judge will take the place of Michael T. Hall, who was elected to the Ohio 2nd District Court of Appeals.
