Just because three Michigan brothers haven't been found alive yet doesn't mean hope is lost, the president of the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children said today.
Ernie Allen, president of the organisation based in Alexandria, Virginia, said the children still can be found.
"What we know is that time is the enemy,'' Allen said. "The good news in this case is that response was swift.''
Allen said most of the 800,000 children reported missing each year in the US are recovered safely - even in abduction cases, where 60 percent of children are found alive.
But if children are killed in an abduction, they are usually dead within three hours, Allen said.
Andrew Skelton, 9, Alexander Skelton, 7, and Tanner Skelton, 5, went to their father John Skelton's house in Morenci on Wednesday.
They were last seen in the backyard Thursday afternoon, and by Friday were missing.

If there is a good side to a parental abduction, at least it would be that the kids are likely safe. Otherwise, I truly hope they checked all the places kids could hide, including car trunks, etc.

Old refrigerators and freezers come to mind as well, but that would be bad news in this time frame if the seals were intact.
Prayers offered.
Prayers up!
Absolutely, the freezers and refrigerators are deadly. I remember numerous cases where the searchers looked all over and later found the kids suffocated in the family basement appliances or car trunks. I doubt a child would be able to open the trunk from inside, even with the newer release levers.
I saw the picture of these little boys and they are beautiful. I hope they are safe and prayers for them and their family. I really don’t understand people anymore.
The mother seems like a perfect loon with a sick past....and the father may have had fears for their safety.
If harm actually has befallen them, I'd be suspicious that the mother was retaliating against the dad in some way.

Another missing person in the same general area (within about 30 miles). She’s an adult so it isn’t getting much attention.

This may have been why they were searching the lake from the air with a spotlight last night. I’m only a few miles from where she lived.
