It would freeze pay, but not the number of employees. In other words, government expense could still grow by hiring more overpaid workers... they just would be at slightly more modest wages than otherwise.

Obama increased pay for government employees like money grows on trees. I can’t remember the details, but those making six figures jumped by leaps and bounds since he took office.

I work for local government and our wages and benefits were cut! They need to roll their wages back and then some!!!

The problem is that there is “metro” and “heartland” living-levels. If you tried to live on a regular pay level in DC or Miami or San Fransisco...you can forget about. I think this simplified analysis over government pay and civilian pay is not as realistic as people think it is.

One of the issues that I saw coming over twenty years ago is that they kept writing bachelor degree required...for GS-11 level jobs...so now you’ve got all these people lined up for the job with the education in hand. They all expect to move up within three to six years to the next level. I can’t say it’s right, but that’s the system which came into play.

Obama To Freeze Government Salaries At All Time High

In 10 minutes the teleprompter in chief will announce that he is about to freeze government salaries for two years. Of course, government workers thank him, as this means federal salaries which have exploded in the past 5 years will be stuck at all time highs for at least two years, even as nominal salaries for everyone else (except FIRE workers of course) continue to decline. As we suggested a few days ago, in order to promote some vaguely credible idea of austerity, instead of freezing salaries, Obama needs to be cutting. Why? One look at the chart below explains it all.

I am not a Limbaugh hater but I've only listened to him with any regularity over the past six weeks or so as I now have access to internet radio at the office. Frankly, the fellow seems unhinged and many of his arguments make no sense at all. It is worrisome that many on our side of the debate take what he says on his show as gospel truth. Folks have to understand that he appears to be making unsupportable and frankly untrue statements for largely self interested purposes. He says what his loyal audience wants to hear and much of it is borderline ugly propaganda and demagoguery. I pray that our movement doesn't succumb to the same mistakes that our opponents so easily fall prey to. Our nation is in peril, we have no time to indulge in fantasy. Only the truth will set us free.
