N.Y. Dem Owens might support Republican John Boehner for Speaker

It’s incredible how the NY-23 keeps reporting an easy win for Owens on election night but when they bother to actually count all of the votes correctly it ends up being a squeaker. It’s happened twice in the past 14 months or so.

Dede was on the ballot and only dropped out a few days before the election—let’s get and keep our facts straight. And the idea that a poll could micro-detect that Dede’s 8000 voters weren’t otherwise Conservative voters is laughable.

Did Dede and her groupie Doheny endorse Hoffman over Owens? No. When the local GOP gets it right with the right candidate, they will win.

The talk in the NY press is that the compromise between the GOP Senate and the DEM House is: one DEM seat in NYC will be dismantled and one GOP seat upstate will be dismantled. (Assuming NY goes from 29 to 27 seats. Could end up with 28. I really do not know which part of the state is losing population.)

I think I will let the professionals handle it, but you are probably right about upstate NY.

My guess would be that Maurice Hinchley’s convoluted district is one to go. I don’t know about the other.

yes, Maurice Hinchley lives a few minutes away from Freshman GOPer Chris Gibson NY-20. Right across the river. They could easily find themselves in the same district.

I wonder if perhaps Owens has already been told that he is the odd man out. And that he will be put into NY-20 vs. Gibson. He is bound to lose Watertown because the districts near BUFF-ROCH that have lost population, these are the districts that will get geographically larger. And gobble up Ithaca from Hinchley and Watertown from Owens. Anybody who lives at the far end of their district is an easy target to have their district radically changed.
