Federal prosecutors say a Somali-born teenager plotted to carry out a car bomb attack at a crowded Christmas tree lighting ceremony in downtown Portland on Friday but the bomb turned out to be a dud supplied by undercover agents as part of a sting.

Well, good he was caught, but if he had not been part of a sting operation, he would have successfully carried this out, with many people having been killed. How many more are there like him? Will we now have to undergo naked body/car scanners to get into any public event?

A “sting” is a set-up. Who can say if this Mohammed would have been able to get the components for the bomb without the help of the Feds who were ‘stinging’ him?

I am not arguing that he did not want to kill Americans, I just wonder how much he could have accomplished independently.

The Feds love to pat themselves on the back, when they “catch” someone that they have practically manufactured.

How about their track record of catching terrorists who are not part of ‘sting’ operations?
