Apparently Fiala had lavished his victim with gifts, to include a car, a laptop, and other electronic gear. I am in no way defending this Pervert Priest, but if I was the Parent of a teenager who received a car from a Priest, teacher, neighbor, piano teacher, boy scout leader, etc, I think I’d see it as a red flag. It’s not like a sixteen year old can legally own a car in Texas.

Not only that... Fr. Fiala was a member of a religious order - there is no way he should have the money to lavish anyone with anything.

I am in no way defending this Pervert Priest, but ...

Nor are you defending the victim. What gives?
