You need some education regarding firearms.
“Assault rifles” are not “machine guns.”
Machine guns are fully automatic, meaning you squeeze the trigger and hold it and the gun automatically keeps firing until you let your finger off the trigger or you run out of ammo.
An assault rifle is semi-automatic, meaning that you have to squeeze the trigger every time you want to fire. You squeeze, it fires, you release, you squeeze and fire again. You know, like a pistol.
Fully automatic assault rifles are illegal in America and have been even when “assault rifles” were legal. You need a special federal permit to purchase a “machine gun.” There are only a few hundred of those permits in existence, mostly by collectors of rare firearms and dealers.
Don’t be fooled by the mainstream media and the tyrannical left who have have used this issue to deceive people and turn them away from supporting the 2nd Amendment.
