big’ol_freeper,
You really need to read the facts provided in that link.
Christie is not a conservative, he is a moderate and he is not Presidential material.
Yep, when the perfect candidate emerges, he/she will be assumed directly into heaven so they won’t help us much down here either.
All candidates are flawed, I don’t doubt that Christie has his share. I don’t doubt that if he is asked about it, he will give us one of his typically forthcoming answers.
RE: You really need to read the facts
Appreciate your comment, but when someone tries to tell me what I “really need to” do, the hackles on my neck begin to protrude. I really need to do what my liberty loving arse wants to do.
It will all shake out in the wash.
First of all, do you have a quote off him directly endorsing the position personally?
Secondly, how old is the ad and from what election?
Third, fully automatic weapons are debateable under the 2nd amendments.
Where would you draw line? Shoulder-fired rockets? Tanks? Towed artillery?
“And he supported Castle and another Rino”
then there’s the MIA regarding the Obamcare suit.
Um, machine guns aren't banned.
Gov. Christie wants to keep even semiautomatic firearms banned! As such, he has clearly bought in to the hysterical propaganda of the Authoritarian Left. Epic fail on the Second Amendment, not to be overlooked.
A clear understanding of the Second Amendment is definitely a litmus test issue for the vast majority of conservatives and libertarians.
Why are northeastern Republicans so idiotically ignorant regarding gun rights? They've been deceived and corrupted... there's simply no excuse for such blindness and pandering.
Alas. Oh well, once Sarah is elected, maybe she'll be able to find a position for him in some Second-Amendment-neutral cabinet post...
“Conversely Republicans run to the right for primaries and to the middle for the general. The only way Republicans in blue states can win elections is to nuance their positions.”
Not McCain. He played hokey pokey all the way through but it worked because everyone else split the vote between themselves.
I am choosing not to be a knee-jerk reactionary to every post any “OMG he is not fully conservative” REMF posts on FR.
Actually, the debate took place in Congress and fully automatic weapons are illegal.
The difference between “assault rifles” and “fully automatic weapons” has already been beat to death here.
You did not answer my question. What type of weapons are OK with you? Are RPG’s acceptable?
I implore you to refrain from the Texas bug-juice...
Who cares? Can’t you just pull the trigger on a semi-automatic really quickly?
What? That certainly doesn't sound like an official organization, not even capitalized? You're trolling imo.
I’d really like to know what election that ad was for.
Elected DA position maybe? If so, I can understand how a candidate would want to appear “tough on crime” by pointing out a couple of gun-toting gangsters.
I believe that organized crime was still a serious problem in NJ in the ‘90’s. Probably still is. Christie seemed unafraid of OC in the ad, as he is still unafraid of union goons.
But the ad is ambiguous. It cites “automatic weapons” on top and “assault rifles” on the bottom. Does that reflect a politician trying to give himself “weasel room?” Or maybe the ad designer had the same confusion re. assault rifles/automatic weapons that we’ve seen on display here.
I have guns and will always have them, come what may. And I think Gov. Christie owes conservatives a reasonable, non-evasive explanation about that ad. He never seems evasive to me.
But the way I feel about him is that his ability to challenge thuggish PSE unions, worthless teachers, idiot reporters, plus cut spending and balance a state budget are real achievements. And I will take an ounce of real achievement over a ton of “correct” conservative policy positions anytime.
Many are easily converted (illegally).
I never cared about having one because I’m too stingy with ammo!
