America's Third War: Texas Strikes Back

“I never thought that we’d be in this paramilitary type of engagement. It's a war on the border," said Captain Stacy Holland with the Texas Department of Public Safety.

Holland leads a fleet of 16 state-of-the-art helicopters that make up the aviation assets used by the Texas DPS to fight Mexican drug cartels.

In recent years, the cartels have become bolder and more ruthless.

They cross the border with AK-47s on their backs, wearing military camouflage. They recruit in prisons and schools on the American side. Spotters sit in duck blinds along the Rio Grande and call out the positions of the U.S. Border Patrol.

To combat the cartels, the Texas Department of Public Safety is launching a counterinsurgency.

It will take a full military engagement to do anything.

Good! If the illegals enter the State of Texas they fall under Texas law. Texas should put out the word that if they are armed, they stand the chance of being injured by gun fire from police or.......individual land owners who feel threatened.

In recent years, the cartels have become bolder and more ruthless.

And why wouldn't they? Our last three presidents for a total, so far, of what? EIGHTEEN YEARS??!! For eighteen years our presidents, regardless of party, have said we will not enforce/protect the border.

Yeah, I'd become bolder, too.

“I never thought that we’d be in this paramilitary type of engagement. It's a war on the border,"

That is because politicians in both major parties have done little to curb the problem and have allowed it to fester and grow for decades.

The last president who effectively confronted major southern border issues was President Eisenhower, and that was a half-century ago.

The democrat politicos along the border are being bought and paid for by the cartels. Take a look at the map...all of the drug routes into the US are run by democrats(especially the I35 corridor in Texas.

Yes, but in todays PC world, some things have to be spelled out to them in clear english. If the illegals don’t understand english..........oh well.

The Border should be a giant target range/ No Mans land.

Anything that moves with in a 1000 yards is considered a target.

I would prefer to see our border look like the front lines during WW1.

Hooray for TX and AZ. But the notion of STATES having to perform the #1 function of the US government infuriates me. This is an outrageous dereliction of duty by the feds and is plainly an impeachable offense for Obama and Napolitano.

Perhaps a few hundred, or thousand FReepers might come down there and help Texas regardless of what the Unconstitutionalists say in DC? If Washington tries to stop them, there may be larger numbers coming to help.

We're funny that way.

...just sayin’.....
