Obama enlists big names to push for nuclear treaty

WASHINGTON – President Barack Obama, pressing for quick Senate ratification of a U.S.-Russia nuclear arms-reduction treaty, summoned a number of former secretaries of defense and state, Republicans and Democrats, to the White House to rally support for the imperiled agreement.

The White House said Obama wanted to discuss at the gathering why it is in the national interest for the Senate to approve the treaty this year, a move that a key Senate Republican says would be premature.

Those invited to the Roosevelt Room meeting Thursday include Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton, Senate Foreign Relations Committee Chairman John Kerry, Sen. Richard Lugar and former Sen. Sam Nunn, plus former secretaries of state Madeleine Albright, James Baker and Henry Kissinger.

Former defense secretaries William Cohen and William Perry and former National Security Adviser Brent Scowcroft also are included.

Honestly, if he tries this the populace should revolt. It’s our nation’s safety being parceled away, while the traitors are still in control.

High crimes and treason for $1000 dollars Alex...

These treaties are simply a mechanism for Obama to destroy America’s defenses.

We never hold our enemies to account and ALWAYS undercut our own military capability.

Obama would attempt UNILATERAL DISARMAMENT if he though he could get away with it.

All so close to SOG to be readily available. At least during the first treason against the nation, the traitor was at West Point NY. Now they are all at the SOG.

He is trying to use intimidation - the rush to get this passed with in a matter of days. Sure call out the big guns and how much will this cost the American Taxpayer. How many billions will it be to purchase the added Republican votes needed to reach the 67 votes to pass this fiasco that does nothing but decrease America’s nuclear aresnal and actually increases the Russian aresenal. Gee Odumbo you think the American people are not observant that there are no Americans in Russis to ensure that Russian’s decrease their aresnal. Come now do you think we are that naive and stupid. If you like Russia so much go there and live, so how long you last with your stupidity and homosexual lifestyle. The Russkies will be sending you back to the uSA in a body bag after 8 hours there because you a spineless buttkissing weasel

Interesting way - advancing American interests abroad by reducing our capacity to conduct a successful foreign policy.

All this is about is attempting to give Mullah Hussein a “victory” about something after getting his ass kicked all the way around the globe.

This is exactly why a treaty is required to be ratified by the Senate, per the Constitution. If Senator John Kyl has serious reservations about this, and he does, then all of the pols mentioned should stop and listen to him. Kyl is one of the most well informed people in Congress on these arms treaties and if he needs more time to review it then he should get it.

Instead we have many of the usual suspects out there trying to give Mullah Hussein political cover at the expense of National Security. Unfortunately, that is nothing new.

Hooray for him and to hell with all of us...

All the REPUBs have to do it refer to Obama insisting that the RATS healhcare overall be rushed, remember how it couldn’t wait according to Obama.

Baker, Scowcroft, Lugar, Cohen, Kissinger..., all passe, all so yesterday. None with an important constituency. All willing to be used, and each desperately hoping to recapture — if even for a fleeting moment — the feeling of relevance.

He may be stupid, but what he’s doing is not the result of stupidity. He is doing exactly what he intends to do, another facet in undermining to destroy America. No one could do so many things expressly designed to undermine America and destroy us, and not have just that goal in mind. Everything he does is detrimental to America, everything. There is no way that that is coincidental.

"I'm sorry to see Sam Nunn amongst these numbskulls. Kissinger too."

Nunn is a democrat foreign policy realist or pragmatist and this foreign policy group supports the treaty

Also mentioned: Lugar, Baker, Kissinger, Scowcroft are republican foreign policy realists, and this group supports the treaty

Clinton, Kerry, and Albright are "Liberal Interventionists", sometimes called national security democrats. This group supports the treaty, but it possible that the very hawkish members of this group, such as Joe Lieberman, might vote against it.

Not mentioned is Russ Feingold who is left wing anti-war pacifist and this group supports the treaty.

The republican foreign policy neocons are opposed to the treaty. Since you call yourself Rummyfan, you would be opposed to the treaty because Rumsfeld is a very prominent NeoCon opposed to the treaty.

Let me give you an interesting factoid. Another prominent NeoCon is Paul Wolfowitz who served as deputy SoD to SoD Rumsfeld under GW Bush. Rumsfeld and Wolfowitz both served on CIA Team B in 1975.

Another factoid: Bob Gates is a very prominent Republican realist now serving as Obama's SoD. Gates has served as Deputy NSA three times. First under Realist Kissinger under Nixon, then under Realist Brzezenski under Carter, then under Realist Scowcroft under GHW Bush.

Kissinger is an old political whore. He was with Humphrey before he jumped to Nixon when it was certain he was going to win.

"Kissinger is an old political whore"

That's what the NeoCons say. The NeoCons also say James Baker is a jew hater because he co-chaired the Iraq Study Group.

An interesting fact has come out in GW Bush's book. Before Bush replaced NeoCon Rumsfeld with Realist Bob Gates, Bush first offered the job to James Baker.

Obambi is saying that this isn’t a Republican or Democrat issue.

Slashing our military, restaging the Cold War which we already won. Coordinating “peace treaties” with nations we weren’t at war with (but who continued to play spy games in America).

I loathe our red diaper doper baby president. He’s a traitor to America.
