It sounds like the start of a bad joke: Barry Diller, Tina Brown and Sidney Harman walk into a (coffee) bar
And walk out with a Frankenstein merger of their unprofitable media ventures.
News-and-culture website Daily Beast and Newsweek magazine, which the 92-year-old Harman took off the Washington Post Co.s hands this summer, are merging into a joint venture called Newsweek Daily Beast Company. Brown writes in a Daily Beast post that the three of them the media-and-Internet mogul, the diva editor and the nonagenarian stereo magnate, respectively agreed over a mug of coffee to mash together their businesses, after one aborted trip to the

I think it would give the Daily Beast a bad reputation.
Does this mean that Meghan McCain who is a blogger for Daily Beast can now say she’s a Newsweak columnist?
Tina Brown is a walking disaster. She has wrecked everything she has touched.
The only thing that surprises me is that from what little I know of him Harman seems to be a pretty sensible guy. He wrote a pretty good piece a while back about the economic stupidity of the current administration when it comes to taxes. How on earth did he get involved in this?
Maybe. It will also give her a weekly pay check from Soros.
Harmon is Jane Harmon's husband. Jane Harmon is a Democratic congresswoman in California.
Bestiality Weekly is too long, they should just call it BeastWeek.
a ‘blue dog’
She’s the rep for my district and like all blue dogs, when push comes to shove she turns into a yellow dog.
Can she still submit her column in crayon?
This is actually in line with the Obama Economics model—it’s the reverse of the old saying “When you find you’re in a hole, stop digging.”
How is it possible to lose $10 million on a little web page? How is it possible to spend $10 million on a little web page?
I can’t decide whose reputation is more tarnished by the merger. Hmmm.
Leave it to liberals to spend an overly exorbitant amount of money on anything.
I can’t believe that Diller and Harman would live for a minute with such losses. I bet there is a hidden subsidy from Soros and some Hollywood style accounting in play.
In either event, Newsweek will be out of print in a matter of months. IMHO.
Ah, reasons for them to worry, not us. That’s ok.
How is it possible to spend three and a half bucks for a cup of coffee?
“How is it possible to lose $10 million on a little web page? “
I’d like to know, too. The only possible scenario is that Soros is paying these moonbats and writing off the loss. I can’t imagine Goggle Adsense making any money off this piece of garbage. Thus, the Soros scenario is the most likely explanation. One good thing, though, is we get to watch the Nazis get destroyed again.
I should have known that this is the Harmon married to dingbat Jane Harmon. The communist couple. How lovely. He must be at least 30 years older than Jane.
