U.S. Sen. Scott Brown — a sometime Tea Party darling who’s been tagged as a potential 2012 target after the Bay State’s Democratic landslide in last week’s elections — yesterday downplayed the importance of the controversial conservative movement and its new foothold in Washington.
“I’m not sure who they are,” said Brown when asked about the election of senators with reported Tea Party ties. Brown said he’s known U.S. Sens.-elect Marco Rubio (R-Fla.) and Pat Toomey (R-Penn.) before the election and, “They don’t come and say, ‘Hey, I’m a Tea Party member.’ They come and say, ‘Hey, I’m a U.S. senator representing my state.’ ”
Brown dismissed the Tea Party’s influence on the U.S. Senate despite national claims that self-described Tea Party candidates such as U.S. Sen.-elect Rand Paul (R-Ky.) represented wins for the growing grass-roots movement.

Rubio is more concerned with pleasing La Raza than upholding the Constitution.

I’ll take it one step further......we knew little about Brown other than we thought he was a conservative in a liberal jungle. He really hasn’t shown me anything that would enable me to attest to his true attitudes toward serious issues.
In my opinion, any individual who would demean (thoughtlessly) his own daughters during his acceptance celebration is not the type of man I would befriend or trust.

Also regarding Senator Snot: One of my Korean War buddies (who donated $) contacted his office ~5 months ago (and attempted two followups since) for assistance with the VA. Never one followup. Nothing. So much for serving his constituents.
As much of a dick as Ted Kennedy was, his office did get back to people.

This should come as no surprise to anyone....we all knew who Brown was from the get go....but this is what happens when we settle for getting behind the “anybody but” candidate because they are the lesser of the evils.
We should be the ones trying to forget we ever supported him.
The tea party needs to come up with a really clever name for tea party betrayers like this guy. Then they need to label them as such, and run a candidate against them during the next election. The tea party needs to be very clear to all that this is what they intend to do.
I think it is better to go with the States that a re not full blown communist like Mass. They will be on their knees begging for money soon. We should just say no.
Is he better than the alternative candidate was? Yes.
Was he the “41st” vote on ObamaCare? Yes.
Fine, he did what he was supposed to do. But he doesn't need to pretend that he doesn't know what the Tea Party is.
If he thinks “moderating” is going to get him re-elected in 2012, he's very mistaken. And people can quote all the outdated polls they want showing that Brown's the most popular politician in MA (wow, what an honor that is) - did he have the coattails to get ONE Republican elected in a statewide or Congressional race last week? No, not one. There's “popularity” in action.
The answer was two weeks.

Still an improvement over Kennedy (and a better option than Coakley would have been), but he’s really a political wash and missing opportunities. He’s yet to do much as a Senator nor did he campaign much to help Massachusetts Republicans this past election cycle.
Brown served his purpose... - throwing egg in the Kennedy’s and Democrats’ faces back Jan 2010.
To that, we are grateful.
Now, he’s just what everyone should have expected him to be, just another northeastern neo-Liberal Senator.
I voted for Brown for three reasons: 1) send a message and 2) try to block Obamacare, 3) avoid a far greater evil. Most MA conservative knew he was not a true conservative and that a true conservative would not have won. He did 1 and 3 and tried hard for 2. I wish he would have voted differently on some bills (especially financial reform) but his votes were not unexpected.
I am a TEA Partier and have been a social and fiscal conservative all my life (starting as ME co-chair of Youth for Goldwater). I will be supporting Scott Brown for re-election because of his support for Jeff Perry, the only candidate who had a decent shot at congress. Jeff is as conservative as I am, and far, far to the right of Scott, but Scott supported him 100%. I have no use for RINO’s who do not support conservatives even if they meet Reagan’s 80% voting threshold. Because Scott is in Massachusetts I will accept less than 80% as whatever it is, it will be better than 0%.
Sean Bielat is a nice guy and I wanted so bad for him to win, but realistically he had no chance and that may be part of the reason for Scott’s late support.
I think Scott understands that next time he will not be unique. Money poured in from all over the country and not just from TEA Partiers. TEA Party approval in Ma is an abysmal 13% and most of that is probably part of the equally small Republican registration. Scott was elected by much more than just a minuscule MA TEA party. Re-election will be vastly different as he will be one of many running and the Dems have awoken in MA and will be going all out.
All elected reps have to do things with an eye to getting re-elected - which is going to be next to impossible for Scott in MA. So all you anti-Browners, be prepared for Vicki Kennedy, or if you’re a mite luckier, Steven Lynch.
Your comment makes no sense. Scott Brown is the state’s most popular politician. It is a fact.
