I work at one of those schools and the overwhelming majority of the students have no interest in America. They can’t tell you who Thomas Jefferson is and don’t know why Lincoln was called an emancipator. They can barely put a coherent sentence on a page; they call each other epithets and curse in front of adults; they spit on the ground right at your feet. They don’t know how to conduct themselves in social situations and behave professionally. They can’t read a paragraph with proper inflection based on punctuation.
In two years they will be voting. Poorly.
The people who are feeling hope and optimism about America’s future, do not see what you describe. They are, indeed, part of the problem, with their foolish pollyanna complacency.
