Donald Trump: I’d love a trade war with China! [video]
The Right Scoop ^ | Nov 10, 2010 | Your World with Neil Cavuto/Fox News

Not only does the ‘Donald’ criticize the President for suggesting that we want China to prosper so much that we won’t stand in their way, he also says that since we are losing so much money to China that he would welcome a trade war with them, because he says we would save a lot of money. He says that China is rebuilding themselves off our our money while devaluing theirs and at some point in the future they will destroy us:

I’ve always wondered why we, as the world’s largest market, are worried about a trade war with anyone. It’s easier to do without products than it is to do without a job.

you got it wrong, its the opposite. If you can make the product, you can just as easily buy it.

Right now, we don’t make anything. But we could always start again!

On Greta last week he said WE are making China rich. He’s right! They’ll be the new super power.

Nobody wins in a trade war.

We should do to China what France did to Japan. By International Law ALL containers can be inspected.

We should tell China that ALL containers will be inspected until they re-value the yuan up 40%.

We DO need to get back to ‘making things’ in our country.

This grand idea of the new “Service Economy” has been an EPIC FAIL!

so it will be US that suffers not China. It takes time to setup factories to build stuff. China can easily consume what they make.

A trade war will not benefit US. You assume a factory would be setup in the US. Why would they? With all the taxes and regulations, why would a “rich” guy go thru the trouble of investing if he’s not going to make money

Only a billionaire like Trump would think a trade war would be good for the country. He got no skin in the game. The poor is going to be hit so hard

Plus, its not US that makes China powerful, its the Chinese. They’re the ones that making the stuff, not Americans. Americans are simply consumers

Here’s a good video that explain the dynamics

Better yet, they cannot feed their population with their available farm land. We should engage then in a trade war, cut off food to China. We can start producing things here plus we have all the food we would ever need. I think China is the one who would lose this one.

This is a great clip thank you for posting it I was discussing this yesterday in another post we have UNFAIR trade we always have those trade agreements have led us down the road to ruin yet some people say protectionism is wrong baloney it’s past time that our politicians start to represent the American public. After the Depression we had manufacturing/jobs and products the world wanted and needed now we have a service economy and the dollar and no one wants the dollar.

China is setting itself up for a global currency too.

After making some very unwelcome advances calling for a return to the gold reserve, World Bank head Robert Zoellick is again back, and refuses to shut up. The FT reports that earlier Zoellick said the increasing use of gold as a monetary asset was an “elephant in the room” that was being ignored by policymakers in the debate over how to correct global trade and fiscal imbalances. It gets worse: during a conference presentation, Zoellick said the price of gold indicated that the world was heading towards a new monetary system in which the US dollar would be only one of a number of reserve currencies with flexible exchange rates. As we highlighted yesterday, a variety of factors have already conspired to make it appears that not the dollar, but the Chinese currency is increasingly starting to act as a reserve currency on its own merit.

So we’re doomed and now must submit to the Chinese? If you say so.

No, Americans just have to lower taxes and regulations and bring back all the business that make stuff. How about remove all capital gain and corporate taxes

Absolutely should be done. Even though the Chinese have us by the nubs, our own doing btw, we do not have to sit around and take it. Also, if your enemy is only getting stronger, why wait to take them on?

Trump was ga-ga over Obama, TARP and the stimulus. Sounds like he would benefit $$$ from a trade war.

Devaluing the dollar is an import tariff on all imports. Not ideal but since Trump endlessly complains about China's currency trade advantage he must think this is brilliant.

I don't remember Trump recommended we buy up valuable natural resources last year like China has been doing to beat competitors, instead Trump was supporting the wasteful stimulus and now he is upset his taxes might go up.(Where did he think the stimulus was coming from?)

I can’t watch the video, but I agree with Trump, regarding the title.

Yes, but like I said above, the harm is not done to the US by the Chinese but by US government. Also please watch that clip above. It will make everything clearer. I didn’t understand this dynamics until I saw that clip

A trade war is a lose-lose proposition. A trade war will be a boon to labor cartels. A trade war will substantially increase prices here. A trade war will lessen pressure to reduce our outrageous tax and regulatory environment.

Trump believes in demand side economy. This is what most of the left believes in

right wingers believe in supply side economy. You can not consume unless you produce. Demand is unlimited. Its production that limits the demand. Consumption is the effect of a good economy, not the cause of it. Its production that improves the economy.

China (and the rest of Asia for that matter) needs to be given a deadline to allow its currency to be freely traded on world exchanges. Failing that we will attach a tariff equal to what we calculate the undervaluation to be.

If it means pulling out of the WTO - so be it.
