Here in Cowlitz County, southwestern Washington state, the actual unemployment rate is around 20%. The state’s official number is lower, naturally!

Same here in Indiana and I don’t see it getting better anytime soon.

Makes you wonder how many House, Senate or Governorships might have have been nudged over the line if the magic 10% number was reached BEFORE the Election, especially if some people actually believed things were getting better when they voted.

I think they call those deluded people “Liberals”...

Yep! Biogen-Idec, one of the large Biopharm companies waited until Wednesday to announce they were closing 2 locations in MA and 650 people were losing their jobs.

Think that might have swung a few votes from the Rat who was re-elected?

not only that but they will blame it on the newly elected GOP even though they haven’t been sworn it yet.

I will assume that seasonal employment will slightly decrease the Unemployment numbers, but to be honest, I am seriously doubting my own assumption. It's crazy time!

Right about Indiana. It’s much higher than 10% already in the southeast section (9th CongDist), I believe simply by observation, and getting word from folks. My son-in-law has to drive into Kentucky for work.

Now, many in southern Indiana have always driven to Louisville for work-—office jobs and parcel delivery, and the like, but now many more construction tradesmen are having to go to Lexington, KY and even as far as Nashville to find any substantial work.

I was pretty much expecting this, or even worse.

The media and the feds have got to do something to try and show that the election makes the economy worse...hey, it's WHAT THEY DO.

BUT, it was my understanding that these are the figures for OCTOBER...the election was in November.

Now, madame of the house pelosi has been saying for six months that they "will not lose the house"...(lying again to the citizens), so that would depress the market right there.

Now, until January nothing has changed. The same Congress is still there that passed obamacare, bailouts and stimuli.

Taking into account that the wheels of government move slower than a post-turtle president, we're probably seeing the results of dem control for the past 6 months manifesting itself in an unemployment report.

None of the freshmen-elects have moved into offices yet, much less taken their newly won seats in Congress.

But the dems in Congress and their lapdog media think the people are too stupid to know that, so they instantly blame the Republicans.

But, what's new?

The 10% unemployment rate is ALL OBAMA...conservatives had nothing to do with it.

There is also a new Super Walmart in Longview.

Thing is, I never shop at Walmart. Just don’t like the place. I much prefer Target or Fred Meyers.

I wonder if Young Republicans play the “unexpected” drinking game on campus. OTOH, it would be certain alcohol poisoning while reading the paper or watching network news, so, I hope they don’t.
