I want to be part of a team
that’s moving our country
in the right direction.
I don’t want power,
I don’t want a title.
I just want to move our country
away from what I think
is imminent financial disaster.
We’ve got to stop the spending
and get control of the debt.

U.S. SEN. JIM DEMINT

How is it that the good people of South Carolina can have a great man like Jim DeMint for one of it’s senators and a jerk like Lindsey Graham for the other?

He’s making way too much sense for a senator.

Old ‘contracts’.

DeMint has no encumbrances, as was warned to have to forein entanglements.

He’s clean.

Graham had a very good Co-Chairman of his campaign in 2008, Jim DeMint. What bothers me is DeMint was just fine to the GOP until he moved right this last year, now he is getting the Palin treatment all of a sudden.

NO FOREIGN ENTANGLEMENTS.

Is what I meant.

“I want to be part of a team

in the right direction.”

I guess that is the reason he sees that Our house needs to extend the debt ceiling after the demonrats extend it in December 2010.

Have a lot of respect for this man, but sometimes you have to make the real hard decisions, like stop spending.

“I don’t want power”

This is the first time he has come across false to me. Politicians do want power. Each and every one of them without any exception whatsoever - DO. WANT. POWER.

That is -why- they are politicians.

Not necessarily, IMO it's very cynical to say that's what they all want without knowing the people, I do understand the cynicism. We'll just have to see.

Some get into "public service" to actually be public servants. Aren't too many anymore.

I think it’s wonderful that he is not doing this because he fantasizes that he’s the whatever imam in the well or the second coming of Karl Marx. De Mint is not flashy and I don’t think he’s doing this because he wants people saying “DeMint ummmm, ummmmm, ummmm.”

I do believe he’s willing to make the hard decisions, but he has to realize that this is going to raise his profile and he really has got to be prepared for it. Not only will he get publicity, but he will get attacks that he can’t even imagine right now. So he’s got to be ready.

Maybe it’s time now to step out and say a little prayer for Jim DeMint, whose life has probably changed more than he knows because of the GOP victory.

The point remains that they wish to wield power. The motive may be just and proper, but the point of the exercise is to influence the course of legislation and national direction.

The Tea Party has no leaders, only those that vote for the conservative candidates they trust to to stop the spending in congress!

DeMint is more than welcome to continue his powerful crusade!

Interesting. DeMint is not running for president 2012 either. He is a great Senator.

On the funny side MSNBC Olbermann tonight did a segment on DeMint saying he would vote to extend the debt limit rather than the US default on it's debt. Olbermann was critical of DeMint for this, said shutting down the government over debt was a key Tea party promise that DeMint is violating LOL. Yet before the election Olbermann was warning viewers that Republicans would shutdown the government again and hurt the country if elected. I guess a conservative just cant win on MSNBC LOL. He played the same heads I win tails you lose game on the stimulus.
