I, at a GOP state convention about 20 years ago, sat down next to Stassen. I had him autograph a program.
I asked him “What makes you run all the time?”. He said that he knew that he wasn’t gonna win. He said that his time his time. He used his runs for public office as a means of getting his message out.
He admitted that not many were listening (with a grin on his face) but said that it was the only way he knew. If he were alive today, he’d have a blog and more than likely, a radio show.
