I lived out there for 6 months recently...and if you know the state there is nothing to ponder...forget CA for now just wait till it crashes...moonbat brown will quickly drive it deeper and faster into the abyss....
Well said. As an ol'-timer here on FR I remember the massive flame wars between the Arnold and McCLintock factions. The Arnold crowd got quite patronizing, at least from my point of view, insisting they would go with who could win. Well, the Republican Party of California went practical. And you have noted where it got them.

Agreed! Republicans should just pull out of California and let the Democrats sink the place even faster to its logical conclusion.
Succinct and right on the money.
Californians have voted to continue an unsustainable lifestyle for a simple reason -- they can. They have the votes, and the state has the money to support them -- for now. Their attitude is, "If we go down, the Feds have to bail us out. We're too big to fail. What are they going to do? Let us turn into Greece? Bosnia? Northern Ireland? Mexico? No way they'd let that happen. They'd never let Bleeding Kansas happen again."
I have a modest proposal. If California -- or any state -- demands a federal bailout, there should be a price. Because the voters have proven that they are not ready for republican government, the federal government should invoke Article IV, Section 4, in which the states are guaranteed a republican form of government.
The state should lose its statehood and regain its former territorial status. Its senators and congressmen should be expelled from Congress. Its governor, legislature and judges should be fired and replaced by governance from Washington, like all federal territories. The federal government should call a constitutional convention for the territory, or perhaps split the territory into governable units and have each new territory hold a constiutuional convention.
From there the usual procedure would be followed in admitting new states.
There is some precedent for this. When certain Southern states refused to ratify the 14th Amendment in 1868, Congress threw them out of the Union and converted them into military districts. While this was a violation of everything Lincoln had fought for, tempers were high. In 1939, the Supreme Court had an opportunity to comment on this in the Coleman case, but the Court wisely decided to keep that can of worms nailed shut.
Perhaps a constitutional amendment would be required for this, but there might be enough precedent to lay down the law to California.
He's the real deal. CA would have been a different scene if he had been Gov. instead of Schwartzenkennedy.

When truth becomes glaringly obvious, what is there to “ponder”?
The truth is that California has “tipped” so far towards the left, that it cannot be “righted”.
It does no good for conservatives — even if you are ten million strong — when there are twenty million leftists opposing you.
Whitman and Fiorina were milquetoast “middle-of-the-road” candidates and even they couldn’t appeal to “the California mindset”.
Prediction: we may have seen the last “Republican” (Ahh-nold) elected to statewide or national office in California (a few Congressional districts notwithstanding). But a Republican Senator from California, again? Not likely.
If anything, as California tumbles towards the abyss, we’ll see the electorate of that state grow even more leftist, blaming their financial and social “misfortunes” on conservatives, “the right”, and “big business” as they continue to elect ever-leftward-leaning candidates to office. And the “solutions” to the “problems” will become nuttier and nuttier, as taxes soar, regulations explode, and the last vestiges of business and private enterprise are driven from the state.
If you are reading this and happen to _be_ a Republican in California, the only matter to “ponder” is what you need to do to escape the place.
The longer conservatives wait to make such a move, the more it is going to cost them, both personally and professionally.

I think many of the San Fran types are either government employees, those getting contracts from government making them bucks or are gay and vote their sex drive.
SO all our state employees, illegal aliens and welfare cases are moving to your state?

Do you think Telemundo and other spanish speaking stations (radio and TV) would accept TeaParty or conservative ads, like they do for the DNC/Lib groups?
And yet again, the GOP loses in CA when it runs Democrat-lite candidates. Why on earth would any voter pick a faux-Democrat when they can elect a real one?! Whitman ran as Brown-lite and lost. Fiorina ran as Boxer-lite and lost. This isn’t to say that there weren’t a few conservatives on the ballot; there were. The GOP establishment in this State, however, abandoned them just as they do every cycle. They would rather lose with a Dem-lite candidate than win with a conservative.
The GOP continues not to get it. If they run RINOs they will lose because a RINO has no message for anyone, no matter how unwilling they may be.
With no message, it is just a personality contest. Gray Davis/Arnold? Of course. But Meg Whitman/MoonBeam?
It’s very depressing.
San Diego County went pretty damn red this election but to no avail against LA and Bay area libs, it’s futile.
I don’t want to move. I love San Diego area.
I was born here. But in ten years this state could be in total ruin, it already is in many ways.
Will it correct in time?
