Esquire: Wow, Obama’s really lost his mojo
Hot Air ^ | NOVEMBER 4, 2010 | ED MORRISSEY

Posted on 11/04/2010 11:07:04 AM PDT by RobinMasters

Tom Junod’s eulogy for Barack Obama’s mystique in Esquire indulges in overwrought excuse-seeking and ultimately misses the obvious conclusion, but it’s notable for recognition of one central fact: Obama as President has been the Incredible Shrinking Man, and in more than one way.

Not only does Obama seem incapable of offering soaring rhetoric that engages and inspires millions now –as Junod puts it, he no longer seems born to fill stadiums like a rock star — but the rhetoric Obama does offer makes it seem that Obama can’t even engage himself.

As the Anointed Obama vanishes, all that’s left is a politician who looks very much like he’s in over his head:

No mincing words by Ed Morrissey:

“Obama got elected by saying that change was more important than competence, and he has proven himself massively wrong. Obama is in over his head, and it shows. It showed on the campaign trail for those who bothered to look for it rather than cheerlead Obama’s narrative. Why should anyone be surprised when a man with no executive, economic, military, or diplomatic experience who had only three years in the Senate starts flailing when elected President?

If the media had vetted him as a politician rather than a rock star, perhaps people like Junod might be a little less surprised to find an emperor with no clothes instead of an Anointed One.”

obama was illusion and projection.
He is neither smart, nor witty...
He has the personality of a cucumber and a disdain for the average American citizen...
There was NEVER any “there” there....

Ed is right on target. We saw this here, but the voters were upset by Iraq and the recession and let the media talk them into electing an incompetent empty suit but an ideologue to boot.

...Of course, Obama has never turned his back on us...

Yes, he clearly listened to the people during the run-up to health care and decided to give the people what they wanted. He didn't turn his back on us and ram through something 70% of the nation did not want.

I always wonder what sort of weird alternative universe these writers live in.

right, if Obama had gotten the sniffles, the still adoring press would have wrapped him up in a baby blue UN blanky and gave him hot cocoa, and said “there there”. Oh wait, they are

He never had “mojo” or anything else. Am I supposed to be happy now that the media is pretending to discover what has been obvious to all but the deliberately ignorant this whole time? He’s still president for the next (dear God please not more than) two years.

“...but the voters were upset by Iraq...”

I think it was more about the voters being disgusted with hearing the ongoing manufactured bad news about the war from the Anti-American pussies in the TraitorMedia.

It ultimately just wore the current events-casual, self-absorbed American down.

Obam’s job is to destroy America and he is succeeding. Gold and silver are soaring today. Obama will destroy America like Zimbabwe. The public is too stupid to understand as they watch ball games and other brainwashing idiocy on TV.

To portray the problem as a lack of competence shortchanges the voters in 2010. It wasn’t that Obama did a poor job of the right thing. The problem was that he did a good job of the wrong thing — managing to pass all kinds of legislation that was bad for America — and he had to be taught a lesson about right and wrong.

Not that he’s learned it.

It means Bernake is throwing money out there for banks and investment banks to buy stocks. Free (and soon to be worthless) money. The USA dollar is tanking. Bernake wants Americans to feel good and spend.

Americans and foreign investors are not fooled by this. Obama’s trip to India costs $200 m a day plus the US Navy escort. It is insanity.

The Fed has announced another $600 billion injection into the economy (quantitative easing) through bond purchases. Huge injection of liquidity which for right now is raising all boats.

General question for anyone. Why does this guy keep mentioning slurpees as he did again yesterday? Is this some inside humor?

The DOW is soaring, too. What does that mean?

It means that the Federal Reserve is about to buy a trillion dollars more in Treasuries, with the newly-minted money then being lent to banks at near-zero percent interest so they can go buy more shares of Amazon.com with it. The dollar will drop in value, making commodities and stocks more attractive as investments, while the price that you pay for everything will go up. Wall Street doesn't give a damn who the President is, as long as he keeps the casino game going. No, it's not capitalism, and these people are not capitalists - they are crooks.

Absolutely, positively, right on!. Totally empty suit. It amazes me how many Independents and moderate Democrats were simply unwilling to take a step back from the illusion on TV and look at what was there. So plain to see, so transparent. I will not forget the interview with Rick Warren, with him asking the same question of McCain and Obama. I am no McCain fan, but to me the responses and “gravitas” was like comparing a grown-up man to a high-school sophomore. None of this is a surprise except to the willingly deceived.

Obama was elected by the Rancid Media. It’s that simple. So, what are we gonna do about it next time?
