As far as redistricting goes, I understand that a while back, California took the power to redistrict the state away from the Legislature.

Am I correct?

I am not sure, but the redistricting map definitely benefits dems. Since they’ve controlled the legislature for ever my guess is that they either have legislative power or a commission they control.

CA did take redistricting away from the legislature. They tried to get it back on Tuesday but even foolish CA voters still said NO.

Yes - but the redistricting hasn't taken place yet. It is ordinarily done every 10 years based on Census data. We should know if it looks any better in a year or so after the new panel uses 2010 Census info to draw new lines.
