Dear Pro-Choice Supporter,
Thank you. You were with us every step of the way helping to protect our pro-choice allies in Congress, and your partnership means so much.
Our focus and passion makes losing the U.S. House of Representatives to anti-choice politicians all the more difficult. We came so far in recent elections, and you probably feel a lot like I do about yesterdays outcome: frustrated and disappointed but determined. We now face a Congress stacked with extreme anti-choice politicians, but we cannot give our opponents an inch!
Starting today, we must send a message to John Boehner, who is likely to become speaker of the House, and his anti-choice allies. We are not going to stand by while they attack our right to choose.
Starting in January, heres what Boehner and his anti-choice followers want to do:
Push the new Stupak on Steroids bill. This bill is even worse than the original Stupak ban in health reform. It would ban coverage of abortion in the new system and impose a tax on Americans with private insurance plans that include abortion coverage. (Keep in mind, 87 percent of private plans include such coverage.)
Repeal the health-reform law. Its outrageous. Our opponents have threatened to overturn the health-care law, which promises major improvements in women's access to birth control and prenatal care services. Revive the failed, Bush-era "abstinence-only" programs that censored discussion of birth control.
Cut funding for family-planning programs that provide women access to basic health care, such as birth control and cancer screening.
Reinstate the abortion ban on low-income D.C. residents by usurping the ability of elected city leaders to decide how to spend local funds.
We heard some candidates campaign relentlessly on the issue of smaller government. But you and I know that when it comes to a womans right to choose, anti-choice politicians believe that they know better than you. We must show Boehner and his followers that we will not stand for politicians interfering in our personal, private decisions. Send your message today.
Even with all the grim news, we are fortunate that we did not lose control of the Senate to anti-choice leadership. And we won several key races yesterday.
In the Senate, steadfast pro-choice champion Sen. Barbara Boxer of California defeated anti-choice challenger Carly Fiorina. Chris Coons soundly beat extremist Christine ODonnell, which makes for a key pro-choice pick-up in Delaware. We saw pro-choice pick-ups in Hawaiis 1st Congressional District and Louisianas 2nd Congressional District. Colleen Hanabusa and Cedric Richmond, respectively, will join great pro-choice champions who were re-elected yesterday.
And, thanks to the hard work of NARAL Pro-Choice Colorado, voters in that state rejected the so-called personhood ballot measure by a wide margin. We look forward to working with our pro-choice leaders, and know we can count on them to oppose attacks on abortion, birth control, and sex education. There are also several races that are too close to call. We will keep you posted on how you can help in the near future.
The next two years will be difficult. But, no whining allowed, just raw determination to never stop fighting for a womans right to choose.

They’re slipping over at NARAL. It took them three paragraphs before they trotted out the extremist tag!

The “extreme” quote you commented on also stuck out when I read the article.
How about we start calling them “Extreme Baby Killers.”
HA HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA.
