The polls opened at 7 a.m. and close at 8 p.m. Because it was a short ballot, results may come in more quickly than usual.

"If the turnout is heavy in the middle of the state, it's going to be very good for Republicans. If the turnout is heavy in Philadelphia, it will be good for Democrats," Allegheny County Republican Committee Chairman Jim Roddey said.
"The numbers that we were looking for for a good day for our candidates have been met -- if not exceeded -- statewide," Allegheny County Democratic Committee Chairman Jim Burns said.
Waiting times of up to 45 minutes were reported at the polling place on the University of Pittsburgh campus. A judge ordered several more voting machines to be brought in.
Channel 4 Action News' Bob Mayo reported that two voting places -- one in West Deer and one at Calvary Episcopal Church in Shadyside -- were late in opening.
"In the case of if they cannot get the voting equipment to operate or come up, we provided emergency paper ballots -- that if 50 percent of the voting machines are not working, they are to offer paper ballots to anyone that wants to vote," County Elections Manager Mark Wolosik said.
Several hotly contested races seem to have caused a bump in voter turnout. One election judge in Shaler Township told Channel 4 Action News he was surprised at how long the lines were and that people were waiting at the front door before the polls opened.

How do we know those scanners are counting the R votes. dws is on her 4th election now. 1st 3 were unopposed. I think.
The Sestak - Toomey race is going to be a nailbiter. I hope if Sestak takes legal action etc, the GOP supports Toomey. Last I checked, 25,000 votes separated the 2 Senate candidates...
