Elitism: The Charge That Obama Can’t Shake
New York Times ^ | October 30, 2010 | PETER BAKER

Posted on 10/31/2010 2:26:20 PM PDT by reaganaut1

In the Boston-area home of a wealthy hospital executive one Saturday evening this month, President Obama departed from his usual campaign stump speech and offered an explanation as to why Democrats were seemingly doing so poorly this election season. Voters, he said, just aren’t thinking straight.

“Part of the reason that our politics seems so tough right now, and facts and science and argument does not seem to be winning the day all the time, is because we’re hard-wired not to always think clearly when we’re scared,” he told a roomful of doctors who chipped in at least $15,200 each to Democratic coffers. “And the country is scared, and they have good reason to be.”

The notion that voters would reject Democrats only because they don’t understand the facts prompted a round of recriminations — “Obama the snob,” read the headline on a Washington Post column by Michael Gerson, the former speechwriter for President George W. Bush — and fueled the underlying argument of the campaign that ends Tuesday. For all the discussion of health care and spending and jobs, at the core of the nation’s debate this fall has been the battle of elitism.

Mr. Obama’s remark that autumn evening played into a perception promoted by his critics that he is a Harvard-educated millionaire elitist who is sure that he knows best and thinks that those who disagree just aren’t in their right minds. Never mind that Mr. Obama was raised in less exalted circumstances by a single mother who he said once needed food stamps. Or that although he went to private school, he took years to pay off his college loans. Something about Mr. Obama’s cerebral confidence has made him into a symbol of something he never used to be.

What is Obama good at except snowing people?

Obama assumes that people disagree with him because they are irrational -- instead of admitting that his policies aren't working. He and other Democrats are willing to ram through big, unpopular programs like Obamacare because they think they know what's best for us. Voters will punish this arrogance on Tuesday.

Elitism is the least of his problems.

Incompetence and arrogance rank much higher.

Exactly. He is not elite. He is arrogant and narcissistic and inept. But he is not elite.

If Obama (President Trainwreck) is an elite, he is a political elite. He has never done anything to earn the elite status other than rabble rouse.

No, the real reason is that facts and the science are not in his favor. The same goes with global warming. People are catching on and he just can't seem to realize that he is on the wrong side of the facts because nobody but his enemies are telling him it is all a lie.

The reason why people are scared is because they don't know what he is going to do to them next. In addition to that, his opponents are frightened on what he is going to do as he runs out of power and influence.

Rewrite:

Something about Mr. Obama’s cerebral confidence obscene arrogance has made him into a symbol of something he never used always wanted to be.
To claim the Obama's mother needed to go onto food stamps, given the financial state of her parents, just indicates that Obama's indifference to his brother's poverty in Africa is probably genetic.

Stimulus. Fail.

Obamacare. Fail.

Cash for clunkers. Fail.

Trillion dollar plus deficits. Fail.

Massive unemployment. Fail.

Bringing harmony to the country. Fail.

Supreme Court appointment. Frightening.

His support for foreign criminals and calling people who oppose amnesty as enemies of the state should be a treasonable and impeachable offense in my book.

The list can go on and on.

Any rational person with a brain cell functioning can see the failures as clear as day.

And you don’t even have to be a conservative ideologue to see it.

He is a failure by any rational and empirical measurement.

Kind of ironic for the New York Times to be criticizing Obama’s elitism. But I guess the Times should know as they are an expert in the field.

The Times is trying to cast praise as criticism.

“If only he wasn’t so smart and could remind himself to simplify for the proletariat”

he told a roomful of doctors who chipped in at least $15,200 each to Democratic coffers.

All these doctors must have been debris with wrecked practices from Malpractice actions. What doctor who has ever read the London Times or the Daily Mail would ever support this Marxist?

He is a failure by any rational and empirical measurement.

Rationality and empiricism are both racist systems created by white males to spread white domination around the world.

Bush was a Yale grad and came from wealth, yet was able to connect to “regular” people. Of course, he was born in America.

Hey Zero, we are scared of how more damage you will do to our country in two more years. But we are thinking clearly.

"..going to Harvard means automatic admission to any level of society..."

Well, you would have to admit the empty suit road the Harvard horse all the way to the White House. You have to admit it was one hell of a con.
