Meek story shows Dem fears of Senate wipeout
CNN.com ^ | October 29 | Ed Henry

The point that many people seem to be missing in the Florida Senate saga is that this whole mess actually has very little to do with Rep. Kendrick Meek-- it's all about a much broader fear among senior Democrats that they may be about to lose control of the chamber.

The real story is how bad the broader electoral map has gotten for Democrats. Top Democratic officials privately are getting increasingly worried they'll lose the Senate.

They've reviewed private polling numbers that suggest Sen. Patty Murray of Washington has a razor-thin lead of about two points over Republican Dino Rossi. They're also deeply worried about whether Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid of Nevada can beat Republican Sharron Angle, so suddenly the "firewall" out West might be more like a crumbling brick wall.

And, they're worried about Obama's old Senate seat that the president is heading home to Chicago, Illinois, on Saturday night for a rescue mission to again help Democratic candidate Alexi Giannoulias in his battle with Republican Mark Kirk.

Thanks to that awful landscape, Democratic officials made the brutal political calculation to try to toss Meek aside, because if Crist somehow beats Republican Marco Rubio in the three-way battle, he has indicated he will align himself with Democrats.

I asked top Democratic officials if it's really worth it to try to push Meek out, even though the whole plan has now been exposed and it appears the congressman will not budge. The consensus was yes, it's worth it simply because holding on to the Senate is the Democrat's sole chance of keeping some power on Capitol Hill. It's time to tighten the seat belts. Tuesday might be even bumpier than expected.

Hmmmmmmm................Forget the polls folks. The "people in the know" know that the Pubbies will do better, in some races, on November 2 than the polls are showing.

I think these polls generally undercount conservatives and Republicans for a number of reasons. So polling showing Reps 2 pts down should be a Rep victory .... but, one never knows the level of dem cheating that can offset it. That being said, I believe, this time, the wind is at our back and we will take most of the close races.

The fun starts after the election, as the dems place the blame squarely at 0’s feet. It’s gonna be a spectacle of gigantic proportions.

I think these polls generally undercount conservatives and Republicans for a number of reasons.

I also think that the number of Democrats among likely voters is inflated. I think a fair number are either going to stay home or in some cases cast their ballots for the GOP candidate.

The Democrats are racist. They’ll toss aside a struggling black man to make way for a white man who’ll help them more.

I’ll remember that the next time they accuse Republicans of “racism.” They who live in a glass house should not throw stones.

if Crist somehow beats Republican Marco Rubio in the three-way battle, he has indicated he will align himself with Democrats.

In that event Crist would officially change his party affiliation to Democrat. Absolutely no doubt about that. Forget the "alignment" crapolla.

As “independent” as Bernie Sanders and Joe Lieberman. And he think voters are stupid enough to buy it.

Whoa.....man, I read that article and it is friggin’ scary. If the Blacks do decide that Meek doesn’t have a chance and go with Crist, it could be trouble for Marco Rubio.

Biden said the RATS will keep the house. Pelosi said the RATS will keep the house. Obama is going around like a damn fool doing everything in his power to give the pubbies ammo for Tuesday.

And Axelrod said, “don’t go to sleep.”

Something is amiss.

If these “razor-thin” poll margins translate to “razor-thin” spreads in the voting, the Democrats will win them. They always win the recounts with the single exception of Bush in Florida 2000. They got to the “razor-thin” level with their monopolization of the Dead-American and the Illegal-American and the Multi-American votes and will win the recounts with the Closet votes and the Car-Trunk votes and the discovery that the military absentee votes are all invalid. Mark Steyn said that we have to win these votes by greater than margin-of-lawyer amounts.
