Krugman: If The GOP Wins, Historians Will Look Back At It As An Event That Lead To Disaster

Not that the electorate will ever be swayed by a NYT op-ed (or any op-ed for that matter), but Paul Krugman is trying one more time to warn voters: DON'T DO IT! DON'T VOTE FOR THE REPUBLICANS!
It's probably his most over-the-top, alarmist piece yet, and that's saying something.
The gist is that this is not 1994 all over again. The economy is deflating, and gridlock means serious issues won't be resolved.
...future historians will probably look back at the 2010 election as a catastrophe for America, one that condemned the nation to years of political chaos and economic weakness.
He notes, convincingly actually, that the GOP is clearly focused on one thing, and that is to take down Obama in 2012, and so there's absolutely no hope that we'll get some kind of rejuvenated DC politics, and cooperation. Senator Mitch McConnell is quoted pretty damningly on this front.
And as for economics:
The economy, weighed down by the debt that households ran up during the Bush-era bubble, is in dire straits; deflation, not inflation, is the clear and present danger. And its not at all clear that the Fed has the tools to head off this danger. Right now we very much need active policies on the part of the federal government to get us out of our economic trap.
But we wont get those policies if Republicans control the House. In fact, if they get their way, well get the worst of both worlds: claiming to be worried about the deficit, while simultaneously increasing long-run deficits with irresponsible tax cuts cuts

Krugman actually has it bassackwards. If the voters do not stop this Libtard nonsense, right now, this minute, the disaster to follow will be the unravelling of these United States.
I think it will be looked back on as a CORRECTION for the mistake that this natio made putting an inexperienced buffoon in the white house.
How can Krugman possibly be wrong? He’s a professor at Princeton.
Yeah a$$hole....this will be the moment when the rise of the oceans will begin to slow and our planet will begin to heal.....FUBO
Historians will look back at when this disaster started alright - 2006.
The event that led to a disaster for world-wide Marxism, collectivism and all socialist dictators, tyrants.
Historians will look back on krugman as a prime example of how the mentally ill with severe judgment distortions can advance in a society.
This great intellectual does not even know that The VICTORS write history!!!
What an ignorant slob!
The libs are getting started on the post-election spin even before election day.
Krugman truly needs to seek psychaittric help. The fact that this idiot can wake up every day and not see that the Keynesian policies he asserts as critical to turning the economy around are actually responsible for its demise, is astonishing. Liberals truly are insane, and liberalism is a mental illness.
As an old economics professor (a conservative one from the University of Chicago, if you can believe that) once stated, “If your theories fly in the face of reality, it’s NOT reality that wrong.” Krugman, as usual, is wrong.
Maybe someone can do a psych study on the derangement of the left. Despite all the evidence to the contrary, they still promote communism and actually that state control of capital and the means of production is the way to go. They feel that their neighbors are enemies of the state and need to be re-educated. They express that people who have differences of opinion are criminal for holding those opinions and should be punished. They hold their fellow Americans in such disregard that they find themselves often sounding like the sworn enemies of their country, who will most likely kill them first because of their weakness.
Krugman is no different.
Yes. With Queen Nancy & Prince Harry, with Jester Barney for sad, comic relief.
Germany's PM, Angela Merkel, declined Obama's pleas to engage in heavy deficit spending, as Krugman advised the U.S. and cut the budget instead. Today, unemployment in Germany is at an 18 year low.
Actually, 2004 - the night the formerly unknown BO gave a "this guy is one to watch" teleprompter reading at the Dem Convention.
Just take krugman and believe the opposite and you will be usually correct.
Brilliant quote. Thank you.
