STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. -- Call it a bit of campaign shenanigans unrivaled even in the rough and tumble that is a hallmark of Staten Island politics.

Just before Democratic Rep. Michael McMahon and Republican challenger Michael Grimm strode on stage for their dramatic debate face-off at Wagner College Tuesday night, there was high drama unfolding in the audience: The sudden presence of Grimm's former wife in a front-row seat -- courtesy of the McMahon campaign.

Also, Grimm's former father-in-law, businessman Jhong Uhk Kim, better known as "Master Kim," and two of his former brothers-in-law.

The more I read stories like this, the more confident I get for Tuesday. The Libs are pulling out the last of their desperate tried and true tricks to try to rattle Republican candidates and suppress voter turnout.

I loved Grimm's response on the matter...

"She looked as beautiful as the day I met her," Grimm said yesterday when asked about the surprise appearance of his ex-wife and former in-laws. "It was a pleasure to see them."

"I guess he [McMahon] did it to try to rattle me," Grimm added, as he greeted early-morning ferry riders in the St. George terminal. "It didn't. I think this shows you which way the campaign is going. It is what it is."

The RAT would go crying to mommy, Aqua Buddha and any left wing presstitute that would listen. It'd be broadcast all over MSNBC.

But you're talking about the RAT who published a list of "Jewish money" that Grimm took earlier in the cycle. This nasty POS will stoop at nothing to remain in power.

Grimm totally handled this the right way.

This is no different from the Democrats throwing Levi Johnson in Sarah Palin’s face at every opportunity, so apparently it’s a perfectly legitimate kind of campaign tactic for them.

But of course, if a Republican ever dared try this, it would be the most reprehensible kind of “gutter politics,” etc. Imagine if Republicans had persuaded, say, Joan Kennedy, or Kerry’s first wife, etc., to serve as a political prop (And I have no doubt that the Democrats made overtures to Jane Wyman for use against Reagan, but she apparently had too much class).

“And if the a repubbie ever tried this sort of trick?”

Here's the problem with your argument. The left never stated that any of these standards of conduct or behavior matter. In fact they pride themselves that they reject all standards of behavior. It's the right that expects people to live up to these character standards, that believes certain immoral behavior should be off limits or even disqualify someone. Most people voting Democrat are fine with a Barney Frank, Al Fanken........... You think because “you” won't accept such behavior that other would think similarly.

Mr. Grimm is definitely one cool customer. :-)

The guy's a Marine Gulf War veteran, and a former FBI agent, and it shows.

Reminds me of when Michael Corleone flew in Pantangeli’s brother when he was going to testify against Michael. Old mobsters doing what they do.
