Here is the Libertarian platform, conservatives are against it.
Here is the leftists agenda hidden behind the Libertarian Party curtain.
Libertarian Party Platform:
Throw open the borders completely; only a rare individual (terrorist, disease carrier etc.) can be kept from freedom of movement through political boundaries.
Homosexuals; total freedom in the military, gay marriage, adoption, child custody and everything else.
Abortion; zero restrictions or impediments.
Pornography; no restraint, no restrictions.
Drugs; Meth, Heroin, Crack, and anything new that science can come up with, zero restrictions.
Advertising those drugs, prostitution, and pornography; zero restrictions.
Military Strength; minimal capabilities.
Today’s Libertarian Party has about as much to do with libertarianism as the Green Party has to do with Kermit the Frog. But, you knew that.
The Libertarian Party does not represent libertarians.
That being said as i fear the Federal Goverment’s illrational and desperate need for absoulte power i am increasinly fearfull of the U.S. military’s potental to be used by the same to solidify their hold on power.
Or almost as bad i am fearful that our current engagements overseas will cripple our ability to really shut down the Federal Government for fear of hurting the troops.
In short the Democrats will hold our troops hostage in order to save their socialist unconstitutional programs.
In theses 2 contexts I am beginning to understand the founders warring about the dangerous of times of war for liberty at home. If the greatest tool to preserve an restore liberty is to bring everything to a stop, then the commitments and power of the military presents a major liability. A liability I fear we will not be able to afford.
As for open border like you say, thats the way it was up until about the 20th century. Of course with the modern welfare state that is now impossible.
On the issue of gay marriage adoption, ect.. i am as apposes to the abominations as any-man, but to be frank this is yet anther area in which we need not agree with either liberals nor libertarians as it is squarely in the domain of the State not federal government.
The same must be said of pornography, prostitution, drugs, and every other matter of a purely domestic concern.
