Doesn’t sound strange to me, I’ve had a gut feeling about an O’Donnell victory for some time now.

Thanks for the posting from Red State. It is really good news! As much as I love Sarah, I actually am more impressed with Christine's ease in speaking before a group or on TV. If she pulls this one out, it would be a great victory in more ways than one!

While it looks uphill for her, one thing I think she did do was take a lot of flacks and deflect attention from many other candidates.

There are a number of close races in states like CO, IL, PA, WI, WV, CA, WA.

But the natl media and dems really haven’t focused on any of them. The natl media and TV and the newspapers all spent the past 6 weeks attacking O’Donnell nonstop(and Rand Paul and a few others to a lesser extent). But they didn’t do anything about Buck in CO, Kirk in IL, Tommey in PA, Johnson in WI, etc... There’s only so much time to devote to the campaign, only so many stories you can run, so many candidates you can cover.

By drawing all their fire, O’Donnell served as a decoy for all the other candidates. She’s like the star running back or wide receiver who gets triple coverage and then all of a sudden the tight end is wide open and the coach say “who left him wide open?’ Or like how we had Patton set up a whole fake army in England to divert attention from the real invasion forces because the Germans were obsessed with Patton.

If Castle had been the nominee, the dems would have conceded the seat that night and you’d never have heard word one about Chris Coons. Instead, all the attention they focused on O’Donnell, all the ads and the late night jokes and Tv sketches and snarky comments and columns, all the pr, it would all have been unleashed on the folks who are locked in close races now. The dems might be ahead in 3-5 seats they’re currently behind or tied in.

So, in the end, I think her winning the primary may be a positive regardless of what happens.

You are so right, but the problem is the American people who are so uninformed about nearly everything.

Pete DuPont hasn’t been on a DE ballot since when? 1976 or so. He bailed out early in 1988 before I could vote for him in the presidential primary.

I think O'Donnell has a very good chance at winning the election; I'm just not sure she'll get enough votes to overcome the margin of fraud.

Are they really practiced at fraud in DE? I would expect not, but I could be mistaken. They don’t typically have competitive elections in Delaware. The 2 parties pretty much work together to minimize the amount of work they have to do.
Democrats and Mike Castle have basically won everything for years. Beau Biden is running unopposed for Attorney General.
So I don’t know that they really had to ever get good at scrambling for votes. I’m not from there, so I really don’t know. Others might have a better idea about that.

Exactly.

That exactly what you’re talking about would happen if Christine won the primary was known to many way before the primary. There are some - Charlie Cook - who believe that the campaign, the Democrat side of it at least, is now about “personal issues” mostly Christine. That’s the Democrat’s argument, Anti Christine. And we’re looking at the best results since 1994, or 1930, or 1894.

Whether Christine wins or loses (I think win), we can say that we knowingly provided their argument for them, and they took it, and the Republicans did the best they’ve done
in ??? years.

The Democrats did not do any of the things they needed to do. Defending their record might’ve helped them. Convincing people to dislike what the Republicans were selling might’ve helped. Making fun of the values of most Americans by mocking someone who disagrees with the idea that we have to rip down every evidence of Christianity is going to lead to the Republicans best results in a long time.

Yes. There's an almost pathological draw toward "compromise" and "moderation" in the state.

I would imagine that the Conservatives in DE are really psyched about Christine because they don’t really have truly Conservative choices that have a chance to win. Conservatives will likely be turning out in huge numbers.

Yes. If she can bring out any Republicans who voted for her in the primary, she has a whopping 16% of the Delaware voters as a base.

Of course, there are independents who consider themselves conservative, but it's still tough.

One thing that many FReepers seem to be missing is that what's NOT being said is as important as what's out there. They are NOT hitting her with many shots they have in their magazine, which indicates she isn't as close as we'd might hope. On the other hand, she has been much more disciplined in the past and it's her amateurish staff that hasn't progressed from its puerility.

And she has some effective counters to some things that could have been hit. Delaware is very "gay-friendly" but they can't hit her on her "homosexuality is mental illness" comments since her sister Jenny is out of the closet and supports her campaign.

Extremely interesting campaign. I have to fight to avoid it.

Sad thing is, that's conceding a seat to a far-left candidate who will now be entrenched for many, many years...decades.

But I appreciate your effort to put a positive spin on it, as the points you make are undoubtably valid. Let's not make running dishonest lunatics a campaign strategy for future elections, though, ok? :-)
