Does anybody just eat castor beans? Like a tasty castor bean salad?
Or are they just basically for making chemical WMDs?
The Castor is a popular domestic plant. If you have patience, you can get beans, and with a good supply you can make castor oil. You can also make ricin, and the cookbook for that is everywhere. It had a particular run of popularity on nazi sites a while ago. The process is remarkably easy.
Castor oil has been used for decades as a food additive and medicine.
Castor beans used to be used as a poison to get rid of moles in the yard. People grew it, specifically for that purpose.
Castor oil makes a great two-stroke/glow fuel lubricant. I run it in all my two smoke engines.
And it has a nice exhaust aroma!
People plant them in their gardens just to look at. They have green and bronze leaves and red flowers. In the picture above, it's the tall spikey leaf plant. Just don't have them in your yard if you have kids or pets because the seeds/beans are poisonous. And don't grow them if you think you might be on government watch list.
Everytime I read stories like this, the person was planning something pretty bad. This guy had enough to do some serious damage. I wish there was more info on this.
