Numbers don't bode well for blue side. (PA Toomey surging!)
The Patriot-News ^ | October 27, 2010 | LAURA VECSEY

Bye-bye, blue state? It looks that way, unless Democrats can crank up voter enthusiasm to match that on the Republican side.

Toomey's lead extends to seven points among those more likely to vote, according to poll director G. Terry Madonna.

These numbers make more sense than last weeks doom and gloom. Sleazstak and the unions have been smearing Pat with everything and it's done squat.

The union class warfare schtick is just not cutting it this year.

Ed Rendell was just on Fox saying Toomey was finished because he had a 14 point lead 2 months ago and is now tied...that Democrats have gotten the last minute surge to keep trying Obama’s agenda.

If true...ridiculously insane people in PA.

IIRC, in the Obama election, the Dems racked up votes in Philadelphia...and no place else was a particular hotspot.

We’ll see. Hard to believe the latest polls anywhere. Now we see polls showing tight races in West Virginia and California allegedly surging to the Democrats. With a volatile electorate, anything can happen.

I have to like this guy Madonna. He actually said that Rendell’s and Obama’s job performances have been abysmal.

Rendell has been spouting off for a month that Toomey and Corbett will lose. He has no juice left in the state. He is hated and despised here. He is planning on raising massive taxes before he leaves office because he said if Corbett wins, he won’t do it. He also just but a moratorium on gas drilling because the state congress won’t let him tax that. Rendell is in a death spiral like the rest of the Rats right now.

“Fast Eddie” Rendell is the ultimate Democratic politician; listening to him opine on the race is kinda like getting Iraq War news from Baghdad Bob. “We are fighting furiously and crushing the enemy at every turn. Pay no attention to those tanks rumbling through our streets.”

A sea of red come next Tuesday, Eddie.

These numbers make more sense than last weeks doom and gloom.

It seems there's often a period shortly before the vote in races where one candidate is cruising to victory, where the soon-to-be-loser shows signs of closing the gap, only to fall back quickly. See: McCain, Juan - 2008.

Next Week, we voters get to play a game with Fast Eddie and his bolsheviks...

It’s called “Our Foot, Your Ass”

Been waiting a long time for this moment.

BOHICA, Eddie boy...

Ed Rendell was just on Fox ...

I imagine Rendell will have a full-time gig after he leaves office. Gotta be fair and balanced; correct, Fox?

The early voting numbers in PA are dramatically in favor of the GOP. PA and FL Republicans are on fire. I think we will do really well in both.

My daughter-in-law had a close encounter with Slick Eddy a week or so ago. Her take on him is that he’s a crude slimy guy. Apparantly he has very profane mouth with limited knowledge of the English language.

Dynamics totally different.

In PA, a blue state, but not deep blue, you have a clear choice, Sestak is an unabashed liberal and Toomey is an unabashed conservative.

In VA, you have a moderate Dem masquerading as a conservative and a real conservative. They agree on pretty much everything.

CA is the deepest of blue. For a Republican, even a moderate one, to have a shot at a Dem. incumbent is news.

As long as the Republican keeps the race within the margin of error, they have a chance to win in a wave election.

Fast Eddie already has his gig. If you live in the Philthy media market, you get him on Comcast sports giving the Eagles post game. Been doing this since he took office. Always bothered me that he had nothing better to do than head to Philly and do this every weekend.

They say that Pa is a purple state, but I truly believe it's a conservative state, especially outside of Philly. This year, we have clear alternatives in Toomey and Sestak. If you look at Casey's upset over Santorum in 2006, you had a lot of factors going on there. There was the Democrat wave, anger over Santorum's support of Specter over Toomey in the Republican primary and Casey runs touting conservative things (i.e. pro life and pro gun).

Both of those issues have taken a hit during Casey's term in office so I think he's in serious trouble here in 2012. At the beginning of this decade we had a Republican governor and two Republican Senators. We've had the republicans in control of the state legislature here for quite a while. The only thing that the Dems can really pull on here is Philly and union support.

True. Didn’t hurt that Casey’s dad was a well liked and respected governor, either.
