Japanese TV Tonight: Great Overview of Sharron Angle and Tea Party (Streaming Video)
Tokyo Broadcasting System (JNN Network), Japan Stream ^ | 27 October 2010 | Tokyo Broadcasting System (JNN Network)

Well, its about time!

For MONTHS the mainstream Japanese media has more or less been downplaying or avoiding coverage of a) Obama's lack of popularity; b) the rise of the "Tea Party" phenomenon in the USA. All that changed tonight (scroll down to find link to great video). Original title: 米中間選挙、ティーパーティーに大統領苦戦

TBS/JNN is a major Japanese network, seen coast to coast. This was a main news story tonight our time.

JNN's US-based Japanese reporter followed not only Messiah Obama along with Harry Reid in Nevada (for the first 1/2 of the report), but they also gave great, contexted, easy-to-understand, generally unfiltered coverage in the second part to both Sharron Angle (had her famous "man up, Harry Reid quote"), as well as the 2009-2010 "Tea Party" (茶会党)Phenomenon currently in the USA.

The link to the stream is HERE. Just hit the white triangle over the photo of a throng of Angle supporters at the link. Not all PCs/Macs can view, but a great majority will be able to. Link might be up for one day. Best part of short Japanese news video is in the final minute of coverage, the immense drama, the interview of an Angle supporter, the Tea Party Express busses pulling in, Lloyd Marcus and others on stage in crowd prep mode, and so on.

Video high points (my translation synopsis):

--Obama is stumping for Reid in Nevada, but is in BIG TROUBLE there and all over the USA and with the American People.

--Candidates like Ms. Sharron Angle are giving him a big headache, though. They are drawing huge crowds, like this one in Las Vegas (excited Japanese reporter in the midst of a pro-Angle rally).

--The "Tea Party" is a takeoff on the Boston Tea Party, so critical for the Americans' history, in that it signified a breakaway from Britain in favor of individuals rights, smaller government and lower taxes.

--Obama is in the fight for his political life in Nevada and elsewhere, due to these "Tea Partiers".

(END OF SYNOPSIS)

Addendum: So many Japanese are viewing this stream right now, so be patient. Just keep reloading if you get Japanese text that says “many views currently viewing.” I got it right away on the second try.....

Its amazing that this Japanese Press seems to understand a simple concept that baffles the MSM here.

I got tired of Japanese news about two years in. It’s also very “main stream media” and worthless. The Japanese know very little of other country’s politics besides who is popular. I do all my initial news research via FR, then hit the alphabet networks, google, AFP/Yahoo, and form my opinion on the story. Thanks for posting this. You, I and Ronin ought meet up. Do you play chess and enjoy scotch? ;)

No, I just try to encourage people to read my threads that I post on FreeRepublic and not be a naysayer and drive down traffic. ;-)

They were not the only network today, oddly enough. Somebody or something must have told them that it was "OK" because suddenly these various Japanese TV streams, and text stories, appeared from out of nowhere about Obama's woes and the ascendancy of the TPM.

What I figure is that they don't want to be caught with their journalistic zubon down next week when the numbers roll in...they have sat on this story and spiked it for so long, how in the living daylights are they going to suddenly, overnight, explain to the Japanese viewership a US House that has gone GOP and maybe even the Senate, plus lots of Governorships? They and their credibility will be called upon the carpet when it emerges the Tea Party and massive Obama Remorse in the USA, has been a story for well over one year now.

I would not doubt it. I would also love to see liberal Eurosocialism TV and press on this anti-Obama tsunami as well. How they spin it and if their bias shines through. Particularly Germany and France.

The worldwide press and TV will be very, very interesting on Wednesday Nov 3 in my opinion. I would imagine in the dank dungeons of some of the more nefarious foreign news outlets like BBC, Al-Jazeera, Le Monde, they are already dummying up the post-mortem narrative and the explanations. Americans are dumb afterall (sic), or What a bunch of racists, (sic), that kind of thing. Many of them, if lazy, will take their cue from the liberal US MSM that day (which will be in mourning black with muffled drums no doubt).

all is forgiven (not that there was an infraction in the first place) and in a way, these all serve as “bumps”, eh?? ;-)

I think one of the most important things about this election is that it is going to reveal for all time that dinos are no longer the major player in how dissemination of information occurs in the U.S.

This is going to be especially important come January as the Pubs make legislation and deal with 0.

The Gingrich Who Stole Christmas stuff is no longer going to work. I predict David Letterman is no longer going to able to get a major Pub to appear on his show as he did McCain.

I mean who would a Pub rather tick off -- Letterman and his audience of aging libs who delude themselves that they are still hip 20-year-olds or Sarah Palin?

It will be especially sweet if Christine O'Donnell wins which is something I don't rule out (although no way would I bet the farm on it)

Christine O’Donnel, yes, is a tough one, but with motivated GOP turnout next Tuesday, maybe inclement weather, (and independents breaking against Obama decidedly) she could in the long run win Delaware by a whisker. It is all up to God. I for one sure hope she can pull it off...and I have put my money where my mouth is, too.

Here’s hoping you are right. I deduce that Obama is in fact looking forward to the next two years provoking endless confrontations and government shutdowns (in between five-star vacations, golf outings and Broadway revues in the WH) all the while blaming (with the presumed slavish help of the MSM) all the economic hardships on the Republicans and demonizing John Boehner while the surviving dems return to their blind obstructionism of the GWB years.

That’s his plan, at any rate.
