The way I understand it from listening to the news,Caprio and Chaffee are the front runners, although the very decent and no-nonsense Republican Robitaille is starting to get neck and neck with Caprio now.

Yes,very flip-floppy attitude shown by Treasurer Caprio.
I don’t know if it is hopeless here,I won’t give up,there are some signs that things might be turning around, although in small steps. An example is that Caprio feels he must portray himself as at least somewhat in favor of small businesses and fiscal restraint. I believe he is still the typical NorthEastern Democrat at heart though. That’s just my opinion.

By the way, this is a lovely state with wonderful, hardworking people, not a “toilet”. So many people here worked in harsh factory conditions for extremely low pay, including me,my husband and my now very elderly in-laws,that the idea of the Democrats being for the “little guy” is deeply ingrained, because they did seem recognize that working class people had a very difficult time.

Now it seems the Democrats have gone way overboard but people still vote for them. Maybe because they are on welfare,or members of the very strong unions or they are on social security. Well,I’m sure you know all this.

Sorry about my vernacular. When I call someplace a “toilet” here, I mean a political toilet. I’m sure Rhode Island is a beautiful place that just happens to be populated by ignoramuses.
