I liked Liberace...He was a hell of a talent and I don’t remember him ever being political. Went to one of his shows in Vegas and the guy really got into connecting with the audience.I was pretty down on homosexuals at the time but it was really hard not to like the guy!!!

It never ceases to amaze me the types of museums LV has from celebrities, wax, natural history to my all-time favorite Atomic Testing museum (booyah)!!!!

I was at the Liberace Museum a few years ago. I hope a few items can go to the Smithsonian. Parents went to a few shows ages ago.

I’m surprised it didn’t get any stimulus funding

Well, not being gay and being neither dead nor in a nursing home, my wife and I thoroughly enjoyed going through the museum. It represents an authentic slice of Americana.

Obvious conclusion is that there are not enough homosexuals going to Las Vegas in order to support this icon's museum. Or, maybe there just aren't that many homosexuals in the first place.

Too long of a story to post here-

Got to see the liberace museum- then have a party at his House!- ( no.. not what you are thinking- he was already
in the grave)- they used to give tours at his home- Yes with that AWful marble tub and his “Hall of mirrors” Yes,
they found Jewelry hidden in the floor boards! yes he was
one of the few who had a private gambling license with his
own slot machines! (for his sickly mother to play !)- yes he
built a ballroom between 2 homes so he could throw huge party’s-! guy was wierd. but the stories were fascinating to
listen to.

He is what you would say-.. different.

These “museums” have always seemed to be an exercise in narcissism to me. Most of them have to reason to exist. Likelwise most presidential libraries. Turn that all over to library of congress.

I disagree. These museums celebrate a person's legacy and help to pass it on to future generations.

For your information, the libraries of all presidents beginning with Hoover are administered by the National Archives.

I see it as bad management and marketing. They had what could with some imagination of been a money maker and turned it into a loss. In the spirit of Liberace they could of staged over the top wine and cheese parties at a good cover charge, sold silly promotional merchandise, in short they had a freaking ocean of campiness to utilize. He was all about promoting product, he would of been disappointed as a believer in free enterprise at the lack of imagination. Sure the few people who were his fans were diminishing but over the top campy silliness never really goes out of fashion.
