To: Repeal The 17th
Yes, the system favoring the liberal/establishment is much better. </sarc>

For me, I'll take the system where I can cast my vote for a candidate based on my preference by party. It is nice to have the Republicans realize that there's a large block of Conservatives, so they don't think they can do without the Conservative Party endorsement (in the past 20 years, no Republican has been elected without having the Conservative Party line, too.)

Long ago, here in Georgia, we could vote “straight ticket”.
The first few lines of the ballot would allow you to pick a party;
and you did not have to go any further into the ballot.
That has not been the case for a long time now.
