Well, there aren’t many jobs out there. Just give them the minimum and no else. I myself am on SSD and frankly while I have improved business credentials, I am not going to go off at the risk of starving and being broke after not being able to find anything that pays.

How this was allowed to happen to begin with is the problem.

Before this story broke, i remember reading about the poor welfare recipients who were at Wal Mart at midnight on the first of the month when their cards 'recharged'. It implied that the poor welfare queens didn't have enough money to make it through the month.

Besides being stupid on its face, (what do you need at midnight that can't wait until 9:00 am?), it implied that these shoppers were making frugal purchases of necessities at Wal Mart.

No where was it mentioned that they ran out of money because they blew it all at the casino or on a Carnival Fun Ship.

Discrimination against cruise ships.
In Vegas, people can cross a street to get welfare money.

Instead of increasing the welfare perks, politicians ...
You don't live in NY state do you?
Last year Patterson INCREASED welfare payments by 10% for each of the next THREE years.
A few months later he sent out checks for $200 per child (for "school supplies") to every family that was on the dole.

To be fair the cruises are available pretty cheap. Its those mementos that cost a bunch.

Any welfare case caught in a casino or on a cruise ship should be banned from receiving welfare for life!

Definately. I wonder if they track the money spent on a database somewhere.

I agree with you there. Benefits are not a means of leisure, it’s a means of living while you put yourself together.

Don’t cancel the use in those establishments or locations, just investigate everyone who uses them there.

If you stop them from using the cards there, they will just sell the cards and use the cash. At least this way you can identify the potential abusers.
