Texan wants Guard troops at states' call (up to 10,000)
The Washington Times ^ | October 3, 2010 | Jerry Seper

A Texas Republican who steadfastly has prodded the federal government to better secure the U.S.-Mexico border has introduced legislation requiring the Defense Department to make National Guard troops available to states on request. Rep. Ted Poe, in response to what he called the federal governments failure to answer the repeated requests of border state governors to protect the nation's international borders, has offered the National Guard Border Enforcement Act to ensure that border states "have the needed resources to protect their citizens from the ongoing border-related violence." The bill is endorsed by 20 Republican members of the House. "The federal governments 'not our problem' attitude is unacceptable and this legislation will require the Defense Department to do what they were created to do — protect the people of this country and the dignity of our borders," he said.

Hey Ted. Hey John get a clue. Texas is a sovereign state.

You do not need to sit around waiting for the Federal Government to give you a battalion of National Guard troops to defend your boarders.

The governor has the power to form a state militia to defend your boarders and there is not a darned thing that Barak can do about it.

Stop whining and take responsibility for the job you were elected to do. Stop following and start leading.

The bill, endorsed by 20 other Republican members of the House, would authorize the secretary of defense to make 10,000 National Guard troops available on request from a U.S. governor. In addition, the troops would be paid for by the federal government and serve under the command of the requesting governor.

Thats the big thing, they want the Feds to pay for it.

Well they can forget that ever passing in this Congress or it getting signed in to law by this President.

In all reality this is an election year ploy. They know it will never see the floor of the House.

The military is not needed. Texas and Arizona simply need to contract a bus service and announce that people crossing the border must bring enough money for a one way bus ticket. Put them on the bus, no questions asked no searches, and send them to the DC area. This is not sarcasim or a farfethed idea, if Washington is not going to do anything then let them have them.

Far from thinking it's farfetched, I think it is a stroke of genius. Let the "Beltway Boys" suffer from the influx.

YES! At 55 thousand sq. ft., the Whitehouse should be able to accomodate lots of amigos/as. Excellent Idea!

Why, we all ready have the Texas Rangers!

The Rangers saw serious action during the Mexican Revolution that began in 1910 against President Porfirio Díaz. The breakdown of law and order on the Mexican side of the Border, coupled with the lack of federal military forces meant that the Rangers were once again called upon to restore and maintain law and order, by any necessary means.

Send in the Rangers!

It’s about Damn time. If Zero doesn’t intend to win the War in Afganistan, then bring the Guard home and put them on the border(Tx).

I think that every state that has any illegal “migrants” locked up should immediately let them out of the clink, and give them a free bus ticket to DC. Empty the state prisons of non-citizens and send them to Congress!!

So true...These politicians took an oath to uphold the Constitution...NOT to uphold the unConstitutional whims of the Federal Gov't...
