Last call for Cahill
The Boston Herald ^ | October 1, 2010 | Howie Carr

Posted on 10/01/2010 10:26:36 AM PDT by AU72

Tim Cahill is now the last guy in the bar. It’s way past last call, everyone wants to go home, the bartender’s looking at his watch, they’ve unplugged the jukebox. But Tim is still perched on his stool, mumbling into his empty glass. He coulda been a contendah.

It’s the perfect moment for Cahill to fall on his sword - an extra-rainy Friday afternoon when no one is paying attention to anything but the weather. Dropping out today would spare you a lot of humiliation, Tim. Just have Amy tell everybody you’re “suspending campaign operations.”

But you couldn’t pry Tim Cahill out of this fight with the Jaws of Life. Why should he quit? He’s not spending his own money anymore, he’s spending ours.

Let’s see, he’s got $750,000 in “matching” state funds - Auntie Zeituni bucks. Then there’s the Unclaimed Money List advertising, and now the Lottery. He must think the voters are chumps - correction, he knows we’re fools. After all, this is the same electorate that voted him in back in 2002 because he had some cute kids and a cuter slogan.

It’s amazing now to recall that a year ago, Cahill was sounding out Scott Brown about being his running mate. The negotiations didn’t get very far - Scott is no fool after all. But that they spoke at all shows how the mighty have fallen - Cahill, I mean, not Brown.

It was pitiful enough that he was reduced to picking ex-state Rep. Paul Loscocco as his running mate. A Republican back-bencher. The guy carried water for Jane Swift, for God’s sake.

And now he slaps Tim in the face, because he’s figured out what Tim either refuses to acknowledge.

Listen up, Loscocco, because this is the only time you’ll ever be compared to Macbeth: ‘Nothing in his (political) life/Became him like the leaving of it.”

The flip-flopper from Metrowest threw his candidacy away “as ’twere a careless trifle.”

Which is all the Cahill candidacy always has been - a careless trifle. An ego trip by a legend in his own mind.

Tim, I beseech you, call Deval, ask your boss to let you drop out. You’ve held up your end of the deal as long as you could. It’s getting really embarrassing.

Tim Cahill, how long do you have to stay in this fight before you win the bet?

You never have to worry about finding a sharp stick with Howie on patrol. Cahill is now road kill. Call out the DPW and scrape him off the asphalt.

I travel to Boston often. The most powerful radio station there is conservative (680). There’s also a Rush radio at 1200. These are life savers, because it appears that all the rest on both AM and FM are Spanish.

Boston may have some hope, but I think they’re headed for the great dustbin of socialism. My advice...find Ted’s grave, burn it, blow it up, and pee on what’s left.

Oh, throw Bawny on it before you start step one.
