Free Republic threads, why do you ask? ;)
“Goes to show how much talent King really has.”
Which is why I do NOT read his stuff any more. He’s too good at what he writes, and I do NOT want that kind of stuff cluttering up my poor overstuffed brain. It’s bad enough as it is. Same reason I no longer read Dean Koontz. When he wrote SF, I was good. Now he seems to write nothing but horror, and I don’t need it.
If they wrote cookbooks, or programmers handbooks, or mysteries, or westerns, or fantasy or SF, anything but horror, I’d probably be collecting their stuff.
Have you read Johnson’s Churchill?
It is outstanding.
The Gambler King of Clark Street: Michael C. McDonald and the Rise of Chicago's Democratic Machine
The Cook County, Chicago Democratic Machine was founded by a crook, pimp, gambler, murderer and thug. Surprised?
My reading docket is full for about 10 months.
My reading tells me the political situation with a narcissistic President with a ideological driven excuse for excess make it read like a Bill Gertz exposed plot.
