Arianna Huffington to the middle class: Obama's not your guy
msnbc ^ | Sep 30, 2010 | Rachel Maddow

Posted on 10/01/2010 4:48:58 AM PDT by tlb

Arianna Huffington stopped by last night to talk about her new book, Third World America, and what the heck's going on in this country, anyway. When did we forget that what's good for everybody is good for everybody?

Ms. Huffington:

It's like a country without a middle class. It's a third world America country. You know, it's not good for anybody. It's not even good for the very rich. We're going to be behind Gates protecting their kids from kidnapping with armed guards. It's not good for anyone.

And this, which the Huffington Post excerpts and which seemed to divide the audience into angry and adoring.:

Maybe progressives and the middle class need to sort of face up to the fact that the president is not that much into them, that he would rather hang out with Larry Summers, or flirt with Olympia Snowe, or play wargames late into the night with General Petraeus.

To play wargames late into the night with General Petraeus might be interesting, but I bet Obama would cheat on the dice rolls.

If a conservative said that obuma’s a creep who doesn’t care about you, the leftist idiots would be howling.

Maybe Ariana is hearing the counter-revolutionary patriots marching and she’s scared. Elitists are, after all, as delusional as the useful idiots they manufacture. They believe they’re bulletproof and no harm will ever touch them.

It's a third world America country.

We are becoming a third world country because we are importing third world poverty thru our immigration policies. Most of the 1.2 million immigrants who enter legally are poor and uneducated and almost all of the 500,000 illegals who come each year are poor and uneducated.

At the same time, we are almost chasing out our manufacturing base with a combination of mandates and regulations. Huffianton used to be a conservative and then she turned liberal. Maybe she’s back on her meds and becoming conservative again?

The comments underneath that article are quite something. As we all know it goes to show that there are plenty of people who continue to think he’s the Messiah, can walk on water and is super intelligent and boy, aren’t we lucky to have him as pResident. These people are in for quite a shock on November 2.

Mandates and regs have an impact, but so does the cheap labor in China and India. We are exporting entire industries with the latest manufacturing technology. Couple that with the cheap and competent labor in China and India and there is no way we can compete domestically.

Dems RINO’s and corporate America keep screaming for amnesty for illegal immigrants. I have a proposal. Since corporate America and small businesses hired these workers at reduced wages, I would accept amnesty but why should only the illegal immigrant pay the penalties to citizenship. After all the businessmen who hired him in the past years dumped the burden on the US taxpayers and they need to pay a penalty also. Let us say Lee Ling overstayed his VISA and while in US got a degree in accountant. Guarantee some small accounting firm hired him under the table at cut rate wages because he cannot prove he is in the US legally. Now Mr Ling can be a citizen, and part of the process of amnesty is he must list all his employers during his illegal years in the US. Those employers will owe Mr Ling the difference between the wages of an American accountant and his illegal cut rate wage. After all the employer made profit on ill gotten exploitation of Mr Ling. Furthermore the wage difference also represents taxes the US gov would have gotten in the last ten years (a shortfall that was made up by US taxpayers) plus penalties that must be paid immediately. Thus if the Chamber of Commerce wants amnesty for illegals, they better be prepare to pay Mr Ling lump sum for his exploited wage difference of ten years and pay the US gov and local gov taxes that would have been collected for the difference in wages. My rationale is Chamber of Commerce is also part of the illegal immigration problem, and they should also be part of the compensation process for amnesty.

Arianna is, like always, in it for Arianna. Count on the Huff Post to try to become a “Tea Party” site soon. It won’t be the first time she tried to run into the fornt of the parade and pretend whe was leading it.

What stands out to me is the time Obama spent with the CEO of UBS when vacationing on Martha’s Vineyard.

Interesting he would rub elbows with such ‘fat cats’.

She’s read the tea leaves, so to speak, and as a opportunist that flows with what’s popular, she’s there. She has changed her stripes to follow the money once, she will do it again, ever so cautiously, with a greedy eye on what side of the fence she will be dropping to when the dye is cast.

"A democratic republic, if you can keep it."

WE have done a wonderful job, so far, in this rough and tumble world and can claim to be the longest running democratic republic in that world. We have gone through severe wars, attacks and serious economic crisis and recovered with vigor.

We are all responsible for keeping this wondrous system of government alive, and we are all responsible for fighting those who would destroy it. We can do it. And we will. Indeed we do have a very sick and insidious enemy within compounded with a islamic growing threat within.

America is waking up in front of our eyes and we are living in very historic times, culturally.

God has surely had His hand in this-I know in my heart and from my head to my toes that HE helped found this nation as the shining city on the hill to the world. You and I and so many millions of others will help rebuild the road to reach that city. Big time.I want to get us to that economic health that holds each person responsible for their own futures, and that is solid enough to provide support for those who are disabled in some way and cannot achieve.

That said..I believe deeply in attaining that shining city Reagan spoke of, and, believe it is our job to do this. And it is also our job, as it is always the job of the fortunate, to help other nations who beat down their peoples in cruel ways. Like President Bush, I believe that freedom is gifted from God.

I stood strongly with President Bush in his approach to this responsiblity. For what good is it to get back to the shining city when our hearts tell us others are suffering horrifically? A real let them eat cake senario. Ignoring massive cruelty eventually eats the person or nation doing so. It does not work. It never will. No doubt God has His hand in this, too.

Being born into a country that suffocates individual freedom breeds discontent and anger and wars, which is exactly why muslims are so miserable breeding radical subcults that kill innocents.

I feel so blessed to even have been born on this precious soil and cannot abide the thought of living this life without helping others not born here.

So I want us to be strong and healthy again. So that we can once again help others, for real. Without destroying our own foundations, security and economic health.

One thing at a time. Right now, it is getting rid of mini-rulers, elected officials who have ignored their jobs and oaths and subjugated rule making to unelected department heads and arrogant judges who overrule the will of the people based on personal bias and not the constitution. Our government is out of control because of problems within the very heart of our congress and senate.

Our enemy with in is insidious, and found on both sides of the political system and in radical mosques within our own nation.

We have a lot to do. One thing at a time....cleaning up our DC mess HAS to be first.

It’s what the elite in this country want. Cheap labor they can control. Slavery if they had their choice. The Oligarchy believes in the divine right of kings and the middle class gets in the way.

“It’s not even good for the very rich. We’re going to be behind Gates protecting their kids from kidnapping with armed guards. It’s not good for anyone.”

Interesting mixture of pronouns in this statement.

I think this fact is going to cost the donks and the progs, big time. Anxiety and fear of loss will motivate even the wealthy. Even 20 years ago, the uber rich families I knew were teaching their children that providing jobs and expanding lifestyles both here and abroad was protection against the anger of the populace. Many even then were aware that hiring security was often insecure in itself as the guards could not be entirely trusted.

IMO, one of the causes of their own children supporting the global governance fascists is the attempt to buy security for themselves. It will only last as long as they finance their own demise, which is, of course, unsustainable.
