Because of a former job, one of the things I did was to
analyze speech and discourse--it had to do with studying
governmental and institutional behavior.

To be honest, most unscripted speaking and everyday discourse
is very much like this. If you don't believe me, record
your family visits around the Thanksgiving table.

But this between Olbermann and Moore is like something
out of a bad Kafka story in which the characters
are discussing whether it is better to poison
the soup or the bread so that the assassination target
will die sooner and more horribly.

I'm sorry, but that exchange between Olbermann and Moore wasn't up to normal broadcast standards, no matter which way you slice it.

Had they been conversing around a dinner table, it would pass muster, but they were ostensibly having an informed conversation for the benefit of a national viewing audience.

That was plainly unprofessional and pathetic, by any standards.
